30 November 2021
The chipset was selected to power the latest infotainment system from Volkswagen (which interestingly enough was designed by LG).

Can't imagine the period where toyota will be abandoned on the road because screen starts glitching & software malfunctions! 🙈

Dred, 30 Nov 2021Well actually, touchscreens reduce the compact and weight ... moreYes, but you have to look at the touchscreen. Taking your eyes off the road. The point of physical buttons is to avoid that. We've just gone through a huge move to put often used buttons on the steering wheel to avoid taking eyes off the road. Now manufacturers want us to use touchscreens and go backwards.

My little Toyota Yaris 17 years old now is working fine just because there's no electronics nor software inside. I plan to keep it for a very long time.
All those new cars are just garbage, there's always something wrong. In ten years software won't be supported, touch screens won't work anymore, etc etc. They are building cars like smartphones now.

The entire lot will be eaten by Audi..
I don't think any other country's car(except Germans) will get their hands on this SoC.
One thing is interesting though, previous exynos auto SoC was more powerful. A lot more powerful.

                          This is a beast

Could that be the reason why Volkswagen was not interested in buying LG's smartphone division?

Am I the only one who thinks this trend of making everything in car touchscreen the worst in recend years. This is like Apple and how everyone copies them. Tesla started firsts with the model S. And because they sell like hot bread every car brand started making this kind of interiors. Having good infotainment is nice, but why basic stuff like climate control have to be done through touch screen when physical buttons work better.

Yay! for even more spotty signal reception and buffering while travelling around towns, cities and the countryside... Best to wait for a more universal and wider adoption and coverage of 5G before the availability vehicular installations. Your spotify, Tidal and YouTube Music subscriptions will thank you...
