Motorola has released (on paper) great phones recently. However, if you check closely, those phones are suffering from very poor software, and hardware implementations. It's like taking the best parts of different sports cars and having a teenager assemble them. Sure they have potential, but since you can't get the wheels talk to the engine, you're not going very far.

This has been a very disappointing time for new phones. Granted, I live in the United States, so these probably won't even make it to my country. Even so, Motorola seems to be skimping on certain specs, and I'm one of their biggest fans. The lack of SD card expansion is what kills it for me. If I choose to move my SD card from my current phone (Motorola Edge 2020), why shouldn't I be allowed to to that? Why limit me to low or mid-range phones only?

Saving money on 10c of microSD slot and headphone port. What is it another garbage usb2 only phone as well? At high end phone that doesn't support the chipset's 8k video mode.
Can I pay 10 cents extra to get these missing features?
That's just a garbage thing.

Also I don't know how Huawei does it nowdays but I remember their memory expansion proprietary, so that leaves Sony.
NAND is faster, but for most tasks people use expandable memory on their phones, a microsd is fast enough.

Anonymous, 12 Dec 2021People complaining about the Headphone jack but how many ph... moreTrue, but it's hypocritical to suggest these higher priced phones offer a zero compromise feature set when they are blatantly missing features that LOWER PRICED phones still offer. The majority of individuals may no longer have a use for the jack, but there are plenty others who still do!
Heck, I'd even like flagships to still come with an IR emitter on the top for controlling AV devices without a remote.
We are well into the age of dongles and I hate it.

Their update frequency is horrible with max 2 Android upgrades for the topmost model and 1 or nothing for models below it, even if it costs $300+.

Street Puppy, 12 Dec 2021Visionox screen instead of Samsung , LG or Sharp. Omnivisi... moreYeah, this is not for everyone and if you want it all you have to pay more. It is priced at 2,999 rmb in China though which is undercutting competitors (It basically has to undercut competitors or nobody will buy it due to Motorola effectively being a new brand in China, with low brand recognition and having virtually no offline distribution network). 'Proper flagships' will cost basically double so there have to be comprises. A mi12 ultra will cost at least 6,000rmb. Samsung flagships are particularly expensive in China as they have additional import duties due to not being manufactured locally. The pricing of this is more like a midranger or budget flagship. It's not much more expensive than pure midrangers like the Xiaomi Civi (2,599rmb) or Honor 60 (2,699rmb). They come with snapdragon 778 and snapdragon 780 chipsets and a lot weaker camera harware and don't support video out, have worse 4g and 5g band support, also have locally produced screens etc.

Can't buy. I like Motorola phones, but they don't sell in Pakistan. They used to, i don't know why they pulled back from the market. I like the edge 30 series, as i liked the edge 20 one. Would love to have Motorola back in Pakistan.

Anonymous, 12 Dec 2021But 512 gb isn't available everywhere. Where i live al... moreNot only that, upgrades are often expensive.
Going from 128gb to 256gb capacity with most brands in my country, including Chinese ones is often around €180~240 above the price of a 128gb model.
Meanwhile a 512gb memory card is 66 euro over here, and while I don't need 512gb (256gb is enough for me on a phone) it is beyond ridiculous they overcharge it that much.
And overcharging is why they removed microsd card slot on all flagships except Sony and what now most midrangers starts to skip too, because if you want more capacity now you have to get a more expensive phone which means more money for them, if a phone has a slot for microsd they earn nothing.
Simple scummy practice.

Visionox screen instead of Samsung , LG or Sharp.
Omnivision 1/1.56 instead of previous HMX 1/1.3". Crap JN1 for cam 2.
No usb 3.1 or 3.2
No gorilla 6 or Victus.
No IP67 or 68.
Depth cam instead of 78mm or periscope.
I'd rather pay $1000 or more for complete phone or even have cheaper CPU like 778 to have all this for $700.
No surprise people only buy moto g series.

Anonymous, 12 Dec 2021There are still options for 3.5mm jack and SD card slot for... moreBut 512 gb isn't available everywhere. Where i live almost every phone is sold with minimal storage which is either 64 or 128 and the only phones sold with 256 gb are iPhones. No 512 whatsoever so unless companies start making 256 gb the base model, no SD is still a big problem
Also, wired headphones are way better then wireless ones, the only reason they removed the jack was so that they could sell their wireless headphones otherwise no one would have bought them
