I was afraid of the battery issue on the One X, but the alternative was the Samsung GS3 which I did not like in looks and software(Touchwiz). So ended up getting the One X. Installed Juice Defender Ultimate, reduced unwanted background processes and I am getting close to 4 days usage on 2G (I use wifi for heavy surfing), only turning the phone off between 11pm and 6am. This is good considering my old Galaxy S2 only got 2 days on the battery under the same scenario. Surprisingly impressed. With 3G on as with most high end models you can expect less than 24 hours of use.

Anonymous, 20 Dec 2012HTC doesn't believe in removable huge batteries, they attach... moreif you compare s3 to one x.
s3 is slimmer.. even with li-ion. that is comparing 2100 with 1800..
s3 charge faster then one x.
As for charge cycles AFAIK is not really an issue (even if its true) with s3 since u can remove easily.. and normally by the time of 2 yrs . you would already change a phone before u face this issue.
My only hope for m7 is that htc do not rush it .. like they do with one x then one x+,
Release a good device phone, so they can compete with s4.

..., 20 Dec 2012looks like a very nice phone. however, if this does not hav... moreHTC doesn't believe in removable huge batteries, they attach theirs directly to the case....its kind of like a sheet..Li-Po batteries can be shaped that way...this makes the phone slimmer....at the same time these batteries are much better than Li-ion batteries coz their charge cycles last longer....i've seen many blogs and done some researching to find out about this.....HTC doesn't believe in removable batteries...did u know its far more expensive to make a sheet of Li-Po batteries directly attached to the back cover than a removable block of Li-ion batteries? Ever thought to research why its more expensive before whining about it?

Anonymous, 19 Dec 20125 inch is the trend now
4.7 is passè
Htc again goi... morePersonally I think anything 5 inches or higher is just too big for a phone. 4.8" is pushing it.
Have you seen how ridiculous people look when they are holding a galaxy note to their ear? Granted it's a 5.5" device, but still.
Might as well be talking on an iPad.
4.7" has got to be the absolute maximum when it comes to phone screen size.
Then best phone I've had to date is the original HTC Desire, with it's measly 3.7" screen. I'm using a HTC Sensation XE right now, and while it's good, I believe the 768mb of RAM is kinda lacking for the software.
I believe that Phablets (5" and up) are just too big to be practically used as a phone.
My opinion, nothing more.

looks like a very nice phone. however, if this does not have a removable battery and an sd card support, wont be buying. been waiting for a long time for htc to release a flagship phone with removable battery and sd support. however, their latest phones does not have both.

HTCer, 19 Dec 2012Removable batteries are SO over rated, considering the aver... moreA removable battery is a good thing, but that depends on why you think a removable battery is good.
I personally agree with you when you say that by the time the battery dies, it's time to get a new phone anyway.
However, I currently own a HTC Sensation XE. I also have a spare battery which I keep charged and take with me when I go out for a night (where I'll have no access to a charger for quite some time). I don't like having to use my phone sparingly cause I'm afraid the battery might run out, so having a spare fully charged battery in my pocket comes in really handy.

Please oh PLEASE tell me that this phone will come to Australia!!!!!
I've been waiting for months to get a new phone, but nothing has been quite what I was after.
Some I've considered, but decided against:
Samsung Galaxy S3 4G: Do not like the physical design, nor the TouchWiz interface.
Asus Padfone 2: Does not support Telstra's NextG (well, the ones available to purchase now anyway), is kinda expensive, I have no need for a tablet, and ongoing support and OS updates are kinda unlikely.
LG/Google Nexus 4: Doesn't have expandable storage, which is just silly with a max of 16gb internal, not to mention it's unbelievable fragility with glass all over.
LG Optimus G: LG's Optimus UI is simply crap. (maybe I'm just too used to HTC's Sense)
Upcoming HTC Butterfly, Oppo Find 5 and rumored Galaxy S4: 5 inch screens, as I said; I have no need for a tablet. :P a.k.a. TOO BIG!
Apple iPhone 5: Well, it's an Apple. Enough said.
The HTC M7 seems like everything I've wanted in a phone. Specs are amazing, battery is big, and all in a phone with a 4.7 inch screen.
HTC, if this doesn't win people over, nothing will.

I'm a fan of HTC smartphone. I use it since 2010. I start with NEXUS ONE, now I'm using an HTC Sencetion XE. Both are good. But now I have some complain about New generation Android phone HTC. specially One x. One x+ & Droid DNA. They have faster processor, good resulation etc, but in my point of view their biggest weakness are FIXED WEAK BATTERY, LACK OF SD card slot, lack of VIDEO CALLING OPTION. And they might face another big problem with their UPCOMING MODEL " M7 ". It should have a 5" display not 4.7".

swift, 19 Dec 2012with enough optimization, 2300 mAh can be more than enough ... moreFYI i have to own a HTC One X, you drain the battery just by playing 15-20 mins, googling, sending emails in under 12h, so stop saying that 2300mAh is enough, cause it ain't!
IDK what smartphone experience you have untill now, but it ain't enough.
I buy a smartphone to use it at it's full potential, not just to listen to music or making calls.

Anonymous, 19 Dec 2012Sorry .. no sd card no removable battery no buy. HTC has... more+1 here. No buy for me either. They could have enabled an expandable 64GB micro sd and the non-serviceable battery can be forgivable.

"The M7 is said to eventually become available on at least two major US carriers: Verizon and Sprint."
NOOOOOOOOO!!!! They just got the DNA, why do they get the M7 too? This carrier exclusive crap needs to go. I've been waiting for an Android phone with 32gb, 2GB RAM, and a Snapdragon S4 Pro for a while… and now it's going to a different carrier.

Swift, 19 Dec 2012Still, people commenting about battery life... i think GSM ... moreIt's what many of these type of phones users wish, It doesn't matter why, it just is. Now ridiculous and uneducated is a person for presuming that everyone should use the phone like he uses and be satisfied with that. I personally don't care about how well these "flagships" perform but don't come here barking that something good for you must be good for everyone. So, just for your precious "educated" eyes - i would buy an m7 if it had A BIGGER BATTERY!
