Sinnaoi, 25 Dec 2021How did the damage happen? Have had my fold since day one a... moreit is totally my fault, im not blaming samsung for it. Its just too expnsive to repair. It was charging on the table and my amazing spidercat jumped on the table and the fold dropped to the floor. External is all ok but it took a hit on the inner display. It was still smooth but it was flickering and there were pink, green and white cross lines.
My fold 2 lasted about 8 months without damage until i had it swapped for this.

Suppose it's because it's always folded in my pockets/ backpack.

I just had my fold3 for screen repair, and even with Care+ it stilll cost 150$. As a warning, samsung Care+ damage replacement can only be used once. Next time it happens will have to pay about $500 according to samsung store rep.

With Samsung phones having some breaks on utg screens i just feel that maybe it is just not yet ready for prime time.
I have not seen many og galaxy folds flexible displays to break from the crease but many z fold 2 and some 3 have so...
Of course it could be that Samsung is using sharp instead of U on the folding like with Oppo find N and some other foldables so it could be the reason why utg is having tough time.
Buying folding phone is very hard because you have to consider these kind of things because when warranty is out(or oem is not honoring it) it would be very expensive to repair the display.

Maybe Samsung or other oem will launch mid range foldable for 1000 but if you want 2022 flagship foldable for 1000 you have to wait for price discount in 2023.
Galaxy fold series have always on sale year later about 1000 dolalrs and with Samsung excellent software support there would be still 2 big android updates and 3 years of security updates even if you buy it as old flagship year later.
For flagship killer foldable to cost 1000 dollars at launch we will have to wait to 2023-2024
What i like about this rumored mi mix fold 2 is that it will be even bigger screen for better productivity.

I still hold the opinion it shouldn't be called "glass", it doesn't behave like glass, it's still mostly plastic, and you can still easily scratch the screen

I really hope that the fold phone will reach about US$1000 (12GB/512GB) with top of the line chip (either 8 gen 1 or Dimensity 9000).
Really wanting to buy foldable or roolable from Xiaomi or Oppo or Vivo or Realme.
