Apple iPhone 15 Pro to come without a SIM card slot

It's unclear if the non-Pro models will also use eSIM tech or come with a physical SIM slot.

      Just another excuse to offer less and charge more.

        why not 2022? I mean physical sim slots should have been ditched by the whole industry way before the headphone jack. In guess It's just that they are unable to find a way to monetize it yet in terms of profits. Otherwise we would have already witnessed them gone.

          Removing jack did not make any of them more waterproof.

          IP69 seen on rugged phones is against high presure, like those machines used to clean floor and walls.
          Nothing is gonna change, except if your phone bricks, you will be forced to take to repair, because you no longer would be able to reinstall the firmware.

            I actually don't mind no SIM as eSIM is safer from hacking (I forget the term...) than the physical ones. It's a shame that this won't give companies the desire to do dual eSIM with microSD card slot however...

The phone will certainly be more water-resistant this way but I don't think it was a main goal.

              Tbh SIM card slot is something Im not going to miss too much. It is not a blatant attempt to force people into buying larger storage variants like with removing SD card slot, it really feels like a legit progress-related change.

                                This is good news given that Apple has so much influence on the smartphone and communications sphere. I'm enjoying the switch to eSIM on my Pixel so far and it would be nice if I could switch numbers with a few taps when I travel. Very few countries have eSIM and the ones that do don't always have an easy way to enable it.

                                  No headphone jack, no micro SD, no charger, no SIM slot...

                                  Wow, I wonder what phones will remove next? The screen? The motherboard?

                                    2 years later: No jack no SD no SIM no buy

                                      okay, so iphone 13 just launched, and we're hearing news about iphone 15.
                                      there isn't any flagship series DOA than iphone 13.

                                        Maybe a higher IP rating ? IDK
