pufanu, 03 Jan 2022There's no problem with DSC, tho. It's works as i... moreThat's not the point, DSC makes sense NOW because there is no other way to run 240hz at 4K without it.

But I don't see something as future proof using it, because native outside media and gaming makes more sense, but that will be possible when DP 2.0 becomes a thing on GPUs and Monitors (not the case on both for now)

Anonymous, 03 Jan 2022Not if a screen needs DSC to even achieve 240hz at 4k...There's no problem with DSC, tho. It's works as intended.

        Waiting for the G9 refresh.

G8 is too small for ultra wide. Need at least 49 inches. But 120hz is already ok.

As long as Samsung hasn't fixed any of the quality problems, especially at their prices, these won't have any chance of succeeding.

I love curved monitors but this is too big.

Look futuristic from first glance, I have to say 👀

I actually haven't had much luck with Samsung "gaming" monitors. Lots of ghosting and even poor image quality, mouse trails over a light grey background - I ended up returning 2 of them. No such issues with LG so far. Got a cheap 60Hz LG 4K monitor about 4 years ago and besides the occasional temporary image retention issue near the Windows task bar, it has been pretty solid - within its specs obviously. I suspect that Samsung may be overclocking panels that don't want to be overclocked here and there.
At least that's what it feels like.

Would be great if there wasn't a curved version of that gaming monitor.

Looks like hp will be the one who can make flat gaming monitors. 🤔

Dudi4, 02 Jan 2022How in the world they will push 4K@240Hz with HDMI 2.1/DP1.... moreDisplay Stream Compression

It is a nice accomplishment, but I am sure at full brightness it will kill your eyes.
