And Samsung patented HOP (variable refresh rate) in the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra screen.

The media say that the screen that Samsung uses is LTPO. But, Samsung says their technology is HOP.

If you have two 6.5 inchers side-by--side, with FHD and QHD resolutions each, with every other variable staying exactly same (panel source, color science / calibration etc), it'd be virtually impossible to spot a difference. Chances of one discerning a difference would be bringing the device VERY close to the eyes, which wouldn't practical as that can't be said to be regular usage.

dude111, 11 Jan 2022What's next? AMOLED 2.0? 5G 2.0? INTERNET 2.0? ... moreNext will be that only part of the display will be refreshing at the certatin point of Hz, Like when you sent a gif, only about 5 % of screen is moving but the remain of the screen like keyboard does not change so there is no need for whole screen to refresh higher than 1 Hz except the part where the gif is, this could save up to 90 % of the battery taken from the display VRR but for every single pixel not the whole screen.

                  What's next?

                  AMOLED 2.0?
