If you thought the 888 was bad with overheating, wait for the 8 Gen 1.

Scram, 10 Jan 2022Why the aversion for Oppo devices within Chinese business c... moreImage I guess. Chinese consumers are generally very concerned with brands and brand image. Look at how successful luxury brands have been in China. You see very few Oppo and Vivo devices in downtown areas of cities like Shanghai and Beijing. For business people and professional classes in terms of flagships it is basically nearly all Apple and Huawei. With Huawei not able to make many phones lately though all the other Chinese brands are scrambling to try to become the next Chinese brand to succeed in the high end market. So far though Apple is definitely the biggest beneficiary of the Us restrictions in China. Xiaomi does seem to be making some inroads into the premium market though they are still not doing that well for their top models

Considering these type of phones have significant good sized outer screen, I do not think camera for the main screen is any necessary.

            Best foldable of 2022. Period.

I don't like this phone at all, but people complaining about a $1500 new-gen device are a bit ignorant because MUCH simpler phones that you could barely use to call someone did cost the same amount years ago. Phones nowadays are simply not just phones, everyone knows that and yet they complain and instead go buy a $2000 iPhone.

Someone here called it. They purposely leaked an expensive price so the real price would look much more attractive. I would take the battery on this. The battery on the Fold isn't good.

Anonymous, 10 Jan 2022Considering SD8gen1 is really just a glorified overclocked ... moreSnap 8 gen 1 is different from 888 because it uses new cortex A710 and especially energy-efficient cortex A510 that should give an huge jump from the old A55 in the 888 that was out in 2017.
Now as the 8 gen 1 is out only since 1 month I don't know if it isn't too early to put it in a foldable phone... especially as it's manufactured by samsung

Good to see other tech companies in foldable devices .

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 has to be epic, otherwise its getting left behind in the game it started

Anonymous, 10 Jan 2022Considering SD8gen1 is really just a glorified overclocked ... moreI think a lot of business people in China would prefer this over the Oppo Find N. The software will likely be more optimised for business functions like conference calls. Also, not too many business people want to be seen with an Oppo phone in large Chinese cities

Anonymous, 10 Jan 2022Considering SD8gen1 is really just a glorified overclocked ... moreThe front panel of the Z Fold has always been weirdly elongated and too thin. It's one of the reasons I wouldn't consider it. Here comes foldables like the Find N and Magic V that come with proper shaped front panels that you can actually use while the thing is folded. That's probably what most people are waiting for. An actual smartphone that opens up and turns into a tablet.

I hope they can keep up with demand. At those prices, this thing is going to fly off the shelves just like the Find N. It shows that people are stepping up to foldables now.

Considering SD8gen1 is really just a glorified overclocked SD888, I really don't see much reason why would people want this over Z Fold 3 or a much better valua Oppo Find N (that you can actually fit in your pocket)

Message to folding phones users... do you use the outer screen for daily tasks or you mainly use the inner screen?
The 21:9 ratio is of course better than a 25:9 ratio but the counterpart is that the inner screen ration is more like a square than a classic mini tablet experience (games, needing and movies/streaming)...
Also isn't it too heavy (around 300gr) to use the outer screen ?
Just some random thoughts as I guess Samsung's fold ratio is a better choice than the Find N or this Magic V imo
