So no GN2 + GN5 + GN5 triple 50MP camera setup as rumoured? Well, I knew I would be asking too much given the space restriction, but still a bit disappointing nonetheless..

This is common for xiaomi, for 12 series they use cheap camera to push price down as for 12 ultra, they using the same setup cause they have a lot of the module in their invetory is common supply chain saving and consider it for price saving too

Hudinited, 11 Jan 2022Its because 12 pro is priced so similarly or even cheaper t... moreYou must be comparing Chinese prices with International prices which makes absolutely zero sense. From Xiaomi's Chinese website the Xiaomi 12 pro is 4,699 rmb for the base 8gb 128gb ($737) variant. The Xiaomi 11 is 3,269rmb ($512) for the 8gb 128 gb variant. That is a big enough price difference. Actually the Xiaomi 11 pro, with much better hardware apart from the processor is the exactly the same price as the regular Xiaomi 12 in China.

Anonymous, 11 Jan 2022Htc announced phone less than 1 month ago.
They had plans... moreMan i wish htc would come back with a good phone
I own an U11 and it was so good. Even tho i upgraded to a Samsung S20 last year, i still sometimes come back to the U11. The audio quality is insane and makes me miss the punch hole/notch free screens
Unfortunately it doesn't seem like they'll do anything more than releasing a crappy entry level phone every once in a while

Even as a non-Xiaomi fan, if it ain't broke...
They just need to improve battery, cooling, and other things that everyone here will call me outdated for. Lol.

vrvly, 11 Jan 2022You know, the best camera is the one you got on you. Full s... moreBut MP do not automatically mean better detail.
Plus Raw camera on mobile is only any good on more capable sensors....some of these mobiles are using 50mp but on a sensor thats really small..like 0.64 microns or whatever.
I am looking forward to getting my first Xiaomi but I can't get one locally, so I am waiting until I go in to the city sometime soon

Anonymous, 11 Jan 2022Seems like 2021 is the year of stagnation and regression in... moreThey know people are gonna buy anyway.
So, higher profit by using this sensors like jn1.
Brands (few of them more than other) will continue abuse sharpening or even increase the overwhelming amount used already to fool people to believe photos are full of details.

Good news hopefully we see more manufacturers extend hardware lifetimes like this
better they polish and reach the full potential
Instead of the usual yearly disposal
PLUS Xiaomi is partnering with Leica for the ULTRA allegedly so the software leap should be excellent in photography

walkman8, 11 Jan 2022Seems like Xiaomi completely lost its momentum. 12th MI gen... moreIts because 12 pro is priced so similarly or even cheaper than mi 11 , so it's fair comparison. The regular 12 is about 550$ giving you nothing to complain about... it's not lost momentum, it's just a stagnation. We haven't seen new groundbreaking parts that are coming in 2022 yet... last year you had 5g, 108mp sensors ond midrange devices, 120w charging tech... at the start of this year there's simply nothing to hype....

I wouldn't mind having same hardware.. just improve your software algorithm. Selfie shooter.. 4k options for front cam. Improve color science. Nd nightsight.
