iOS 15 adoption rates reach 63%, iPadOS 15 nearly at 50%

14 January 2022
That's still less than what iOS 14 managed a year ago at this point.

Anonymous, 14 Jan 2022All those cameras and the quality is still shit. Can't... moreGalaxy S1 from 2010 has better screen than iphone 11 LCD from 2019.

Of course, you choose to compare with some midrange from 2019, because thats the only way to make you feel better with your iphone.

I'm not surprised the iOS 15 adoption rates are lower than those of iOS 14 a year ago. iOS 15 has been "buggier". I'm still on iOS 15.1 and have been unable to install iOS 15.2 despite multiple downloads and deletions.

Damn, i can see andro bois feeling the burn already lmao
But hey, i already know all your excuses for slow/crappy/buggy/none android updates.
Anyways, i can see some of your flagships are catching up
Some are gettinng android 12, and most aren’t lmfao
Oh and also anyone who wants to talk about apple making users buy new phones, guess what android does it more aggressively,
Android users be like oh man its been 2 years now i won’t get new android version time to buy a new phone lol

On Android, it's not really a choice, you're left with old version whether you like it or not lol.

It’s highly unlikely that a device from 2017, even with light use, has 97% of its original battery capacity in 2002. I’d say it’s doing well with 89% to be honest.

Apple should get rid of that battery health metric, it’s caused more issues than it solved!

Anonymous, 14 Jan 2022I never even said that Android is bad. It's just bad a... moreI wasn’t trying to imply you had sad anything bad about Android sorry, and I wholeheartedly agree with the points you make on updates, it’s one of the main draws for me to iOS as well.

The update situation on Android whilst better than it has ever been is still far from ideal, despite Google’s best efforts to combat this. There are just too many competing and conflicting agendas in the Android space to ever support the kind of cohesion necessary to match something like Apple’s update policy and capability.

Most Android oem’s do not have robust services on offer to provide revenue to sport their mobile divisions, so they have to rely on hardware sales to do so. Keeping an Android device update for 5 years doesn’t really promote the sale of that hardware, and that itself is providing you can get the SOC vendors to play ball with driver support in the first place.

So what option is an Android oem left with, with outlandish specs, then selling succeeding hardware with even more outlandish specs as a soon as possible afterwards. After all, profit margins in the mobile market are wafer thin if your not Apple or Samsung.

Many Android fanboys with say they don’t need software support because Android has zero bugs and is years ahead of iOS, but I think that is a transparently false position to argue from.
You only need to see the excitement and buzz that surrounds the upcoming next version of Android to know this, only for it to become the default fall back position when the inevitable waiting game for said new version begins, or as devices are dropped prematurely from the support list altogether.

DaFink, 14 Jan 2022That something has high specs is more important than how it... moreI never even said that Android is bad. It's just bad at how it's managed and who makes it. All the Google's spying junk that always comes with it by default, requirement to connect to Google and way how vendors that use Android OS maintain it (they basically don't) is why it's rubbish. And no, I'm not going to use rubbish 3rd party ROM's, they are all crap. Tried them all, hated them all. Even LineageOS. Good effort by community, but I don't like it. I'll rather just have an iPhone and have official updates for long and that's that.

If any Android vendor released updates the way Apple does, but on Android, chances are I'd come back. But not even best example which is Samsung does that just yet and Pixel phones are so-so and too tied to Google in the first place.

Not sure why Android fanboys are so obsessed with ram because iPhone ram is way more efficent. Even with 2 gb ram it can perform just as good if not better than 8 gb on Android. Androids are bloated and laggy which is why they need all those high numbers to run fast while iPhones are optimized and don't need any forcing
The A51 may as well be comparable to the iPhone 5s or 6 at most

personally IOS 15 is a mix bag for me. on my iphone 13 it has been stable and packed with features ever since i updated to it. on my old iphone X though, ios 15 is buggy and slow, and i can definitely say it degraded my battery (97% on ios 14 then suddenly just 89% after a few weeks on ios 15). apple is still trying to kill the older models with every new version of ios.

Anonymous, 14 Jan 2022Lol, this guy is in all seriousness comparing Galaxy A51 to... moreThat something has high specs is more important than how it uses those specs. This unfortunate mentality has been a major motivation behind Android sales for a long time.

Not saying the OS itself is bad, it’s not, and I count myself as an Android fan. I consider myself lucky to not be foolish enough to fall into the juvenile thinking of ‘if you choose one then you have to 1. be forever loyal to it, and 2. hate the other option’

No, I can happily switch between iOS and Android at my own leisure and whim. But if or (knowing me) when I switchback to Android for my so called ‘daily driver’ it won’t be simply because something has an absurd amount of ram, or high mp camera or some other tech talking point. No, I’ll be looking at how well it makes use of those specs.

Going by the reviews I’ve read on the A51, it does not seem to make the most of its own hardware.

[deleted post]Because using BT and NFC and ability to use custom launcher is all that defines an OS in your books. Maybe iOS doesn't have as many features through raw numbers, yet it's still very unlikely I'll ever return to Android. Not with how little f**ks all vendors give about their products after they are sold. It's not just a number of features and settings you can brag about, it's how it works and how it's maintained and iOS is just on entirely different level. You'll understand that when you'll actually use it for a while and not just "I'll try friends phone for 10 minutes and decide afterwards its useless". I have an donce I was past Apple's own (often silly) ways of doing things the experience is awesome.

                                      a) reports about much worse battery life (in contrast to iOS 15 on iPhones)
                                      b) UI changes that seem like downgrades like the removal of the today view (pinned widgets) on the Home Screen, which is scrollable; unnecessary padding on the sides in vertical view that looks odd; even less apps per Home Screen than iPadOS 14 which I found to be a good layout.
