For me the SE is the best phone I’ve ever had, surpasses by a large degree any of the many Android phones I have owned. And it does have the Apple logo, too which is not a bad thing at all.

And on top of that, TouchID can be used with a mask. There is really no reason for me to not like this phone.

Even new you can get like a XR or 11, there is really enough choice for a big phone, but small phones are rare nowadays. Only if you want a bigger iPhone with a homebutton, it‘s different but even then an 8 Plus will still be a decent upgrade and bigger. But please let us keep the 4.7 one at least.

People aren't willing to spend S21 Ultra money on a phone so they buy a Galaxy A52 which is 400€-ish. How is iPhone SE any different? It's just that Apple doesn't fill every single price bracket possible with another model. SE is as cheap as iPhone can ever get and then you have regular 3-4 models at 800€ and above. You either go with SE because you can't afford more or you scrape up some extra cash and go for higher end and then stick with it for longer.
Exact same group of people may also stick with Galaxy S10 because they are not willing to spend 1000€ on a phone. And same can be said for iPhone X users who still use them today because they follow the same logic. There is NOTHING wrong with using high end phone for longer. If it is fast and serves you well, why not? Only pretentious snobs constantly hype and flash their brand new top of the line most expensive phones.

You should remember that in a lot of country top tier iPhone Max could easily priced 2100+ USD.
Even the iPhone SE that consider cheap in USA wasn't cheap in a lot of country (450 USD was like 2 months minimum wages).

Hoping that iPhone SE 3 would use iPhone 8+ body. 4,7" for 2022 wasn't adequate for content nowadays.
I'm still using iPhone 6s, waiting for bigger iPhone with cheaper price.

Bought an iPhone this year and will never go back to the sad unreliable laggy state that Android is . Buying an iPad next because my high end Samsung tablet is gettin too laggy and has zero updates after 2 years.

Let's be honest. Apple users has basically no expectations of their tech, as long as the software looks different to Android/Windows and has an Apple logo, it will be good enough for them and they will automatically form their expectations and needs around Apple's marketing material. If something seems off, then it's Apple's superior "design philosophy" or you're being unreasonable.

Apple has never been good with naming anyway (a device called iPhone XS Max exists with the X being a roman numeral and S being a letter, true story). I still believe the hook of the SE line is price, price, price.
