Because click news really care so much about Android Oreo or Pie being full of holes. They'll just write about it if it's Android 12. Or if it's something really big on Android 11. For Android 10, no one will even bother even though tons of phone run just that and will remain stuck on that forever.

Anonymous, 20 Jan 2022What critical security issues on Android that not get fixed... moreWhich 90% of Android devices? The ones stuck on Android 11, Android 10, Android 9, Android 8, Android 7 and even Android 6 ? Which one? Devices that run Android 9 and below and won't ever get any update ever most certainly have bunch of security issues that cannot be addressed via GooglePlay alone and require system wide update that has to be delivered by phone manufacturer and cannot be delivered by Google. Hell, large majority of said 90% of devices don't even get monthly updates while being fully eligible for them. Yet again, only Samsung releases them every single month without exception, sometimes even beating Google itself at it because Google drops the security fixes into repository and Samsung snatches and pushes out on devices faster than Google does on their own Pixel phones. But again, that's just Samsung and Samsung alone. All other vendors are lazy and just plain don't care.

By the way, this issue hasn't been fixed. If you use Safari, you should stop using it immediately and pray that your data haven't been stolen.

Anonymous, 20 Jan 2022So, describing technical issues with how security fixes are... moreYes, because if you care about security, you'll criticize Apple. Instead, you criticized Android users on an article about a critical security issue of an Apple product. I don't know why you keep doing this. It's really weird.

I laugh every time someone tells me Safari is the most secure browser. And I really wish you can update Safari normally from the app store instead having to update your entire OS. But I don't use Safari anyway so I'm fine.

But what if YOU were able to protect your privacy? Is more secured that way, which iOS doesn't offer such thing since there's barely anything that you can change in settings, you have to jailbreak for that.

I love how 90% of smug people here mocking Apple and iOS for one very recent security flaw while still using ancient Android versions like Oreo and even Lollipop because that's what they were left stuck with years ago and pretend that their phones are still super secure and immune to security risks...

App and WebView updates only go as far, the rest needs to be addressed with actual security updates that are released by actual phone manufacturers and can't be delivered via app updates.

And apple recently told the court they refuse to open up and be transparent is because of security.

Such irony!!! iOS and ipadOS gotten a few hacks in just 3 months.
