There are already apps to do this, yes they are paid, but I can attest to at least one of them working.
However, it’s good that this is now available for free within the app itself, as it should have been years ago.
It really doesn’t matter if Telegram or whatever is better, this is the app everybody is familiar with so every improvement is very welcome.

whatsapp should have done this from day 1!!! big thumbs up for samsung... at least they did it by themselves without waiting idle for someone else to give that solution.apple says "it is a 3rd party app and it is not our problem".that is an easy way to avoid customer problems. I worked on months for unofficial workarounds.the only workaround is you buy software license starting from $19 for 3rd party.

There are always ways around this for technically savvy people but difficult and it's obviously os dictated to try and make it as awkward as possible to switch systems. So I wouldn't imagine apple would be at fault as they want people to switch and it to be easy. It's Google Android that are obviously making it difficult. They did similar with the windows phone os hence it died out. So difficult to get any kind of android apps and windows apps. I ended up being forced away from Windows although I liked much about their devices.
