Since Samsung is yet again taking away the SD card which facilitates easy moving of your data, I shall not upgrade.
That SD card is that important to many people to keep their personal information with them and not in the cloud or where it can be accessed from the phone should you be hacked!

The size of s22 ultra display is wayyy tooo biggg, samsung should launch a device with all the features of ultra series in size of s10 display(curved)(6.1inches). It would sell like crazy !!!!!

LOL, 26 Jan 2022It's a Note, a phablet. It's supposed to be big. ... moreI simply do not need that big screen. It is useless. But I need a waterproof phone with top camera (because those are the features I use the most).

If the S22 would have the same HW as the S22 pro, then I would buy it, even if it is at the same price as the S22 pro (given pro means only big screen with higher res and pen support), in this way both are garbage.

Samsung would have to give me a choice to UPGRADE from my Note9 512GB + 512GB SD card for me to buy a new Note phone. The S22 ULTRA specs, even the most expensive version, is a DOWNGRADE from my Note9. Samsung must be TRYING to kill off the Note series by shrinking its capacities and features and raising its price. Nothing could kill it faster than that.

Can't waste money on this piece of wood. I think the s21 ultra is a better phone than this. No SD card support & lower ram option. All the hype for nothing.

Some people need it and prefers it. About the wireless headsets/buds, they cost somewhere 60$ - 180$ if you want a decent experience. Some people don't want to spend that much. Some wired headphones provide good sound quality anyway and cheaper. I'm not hating or being rude, just disagreeing.

If there is no SD card slot, there needs to be a 512GB version, as sometimes low speed data in parts of Australia makes it tedious accessing photos, files on the cloud.

MrElectrifyer, 26 Jan 2022Meh, just another dumbed-down shiny device. The Galaxy Note... moreYeah it's annoying that Samsung seem to take away as many features as they add nowadays.

My first Note phone was a Note 8 and I upgraded to the 9 after that. I found it handy to have the headphone jack, microSD slot, seperate Bixby button (not because I am the world's biggest Bixby fan, but because it can be remapped as a single-press camera launcher using Samsung's own settings, or use a remapping app and get different options for single/double/triple press etc. whilst Bixby/voice dictation for text entry fields can stay as press and hold) and I even used the Gear VR headset that lets me use the phone as a VR device - of course its nowhere near the quality of a dedicated VR headset but it was still cool that I could experience VR without spending another £400+ and convenient to be able to view media on my phone in VR too.

I currently have an S21 Ultra and it's the most disappointing Samsung phone I've ever had. All of those features listed above are gone, even the internal S-Pen. Yes the camera setup is great, which is why I went for S21 Ultra instead of Note 20 Ultra. But I am really missing the internal S Pen, and that will be pretty much my sole reason for getting the S22 Ultra. But I am disappointed with the rumoured spec as there doesn't seem to be much of an upgrade anywhere apart from the processor and the S-Pen returning to the inside of the phone. Camera hardware seems to be the same (or potentially even worse - the 'leaked' sensor sizes for the ultrawide and 3x telephoto are actually a little smaller than the S21 Ultra specs on GSMArena whilst the lens aperture remains the same). And the microSD card slot is not making a comeback. Samsung say they didn't include this on the S21 Ultra not for cost saving but because customers don't want it?! Just bizarre - I see lots of Samsung users complaining about that - so if it's not a cost saving measure for Samsung just keep it so if a user doesn't care for a card slot then so what, it doesn't matter, but if it's a user that does appreciate it then Samsung will have kept them as a happy customer rather than alienated them! I got the 256GB S21 Ultra out of habit as that's the size I went for for my previous Note 10+. But as soon as it arrived I was concerned I had made the wrong choice, having used 240GB+ on the Note 10+ - most of this being large video files that are very slow to sync with the cloud. OneDrive doesn't even upload large multi-GB videos from Samsung Gallery so have to remember to do it manually. I'd rather just move those large videos to a microSD card - which will be a cheaper than paying for extra storage in the phone itself, and gives me more potential total storage too.

Not really sure what Samsung is doing to innovate with their non-foldable phones, apart from developing a good camera system. I'd love to see things like a physical shutter button like Sony's latest Xperia models have - surely that would be a great feature for a what is billed as a flagship camera system on a phone. Even better - include the touch sensor zones on the side like Asus uses on their ROG phones - not only great for gaming, but they can be used for all sorts of stuff. They can respond to touch, swipe, grip etc. so they could be used for shortcut gestures in place of the long-gone Bixby button, or as a camera zoom using the swipe gesture and so much more! Apple have some unique camera features too - the Lidar sensor, plus sensor-shift stabilisation on their main camera on the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Also they have a better quality portrait telephoto whereas Samsung's 3x telephoto on the S21 Ultra is noticeably worse quality than the other cameras. Yes it's better than having no portrait focal length camera at all like the S20/Note20 Ultra that just used a heavy crop from the main camera. But taking photos of other people is one of the main things people use a phone camera for, so quality of camera that has a focal length great for portraits should be a priority not an afterthought.

Could keep going on about innovations from other brands that Samsung isn't matching - Apple's MagSafe, the crazy charging speeds (both wireless & wired) from a number of Android brands. Whereas Samsung actually downgrade the wired charging speed of S21 Ultra compared to Note 10+. I almost bought a seperate 45W charger for my Note 10+ (that Samsung were too cheap to include with the phone you've just dropped 4 figures on) - I would've been annoyed if I had and then found it was pointless for my next phone. At least S22 Ultra will bring back 45W and the charger that came with my Galaxy Book Pro should work with that), but I charge wirelessly most of the time and that charging speed is staying the same.

I just wish Samsung would live up to their customer's expectations, otherwise they are going to be overtaken by other brands.
