Yeah I knew the app wasn't malicious in the first place anyway, not sure why it would think it was all the sudden tho.

Lets take a moment to acknowledge and congratulate gsmarena and its staff for getting on this in a timely manner. There are several billion dollar Corporations out there who do bigger and bigger blunders and take months or even years to address the underlying issue. Keep up the good work! Love to see it.

Ofcouse the less tech savvy would use such thing as a Anti-virus on Android. When there's no need for such.

Why are people using AVG or any other antivirus on Android in the first place?

I don't get why people are using these scanners on their phones.

To everyone whining how AVG is crap and how it needs to be removed and blablabla, Android:Evo-gen (as well as Win32:Evo-gen) are machine generated generic signatures, meaning their automated system spotted something, classified it and generated a detection entirely without human interaction. Because it's impossible to check billions of new files daily by hand. And such things may happen from time to time. While they undergo all the checks, there may be false positives and this is just one of them. It's not end of the world and lets be honest, GSMArena app isn't exactly the most popular Android app among hundreds of millions of available apps. The less popular thing is, the harder it is to ensure false positive checks. It's just nature of things. It happened, if in doubt, remove it and report it to AVG/Avast. When cleared, reinstall it. I'll always say it and I'll repeat it, it's better to have a false positive here and there than legit malware that gets missed. On Android it's basically not possible to trash OS the same way false positive on system file can in Windows. So it's of a lesser problem most of the time.
