Wereweeb, 29 Jan 2022Good. We still need FPGA's and can't do with AMD ... moreThis is certainly a good deal for Chinese cause this way they can get access to ARM technologies. AMD has been a key for Chinese to keep getting access to USA sanctioned technologies meanwhile they start to push their own technologies into market. Since this is quite a good time to get into new architecture due to certain architectures reaching their limits so it will provide new players a decent chance to get traction into the market. It will be a good option to have alternative choices and avoid the US backed bullying in tech space.

corruption at the highest levels. this gets allowed but not nvidia buying arm? and spare me the excuses.

Dumbest explanation of FPGA technology I've ever heard.

Good. We still need FPGA's and can't do with AMD cannibalizing Xilinx for their own purposes, no matter how important AMD's existence is to product competition in the CPU/GPU spaces.

Mobilemaster, 28 Jan 2022I wonder why Wikipedia doesn't say Xilinx is Chinese c... moreXilinx isn't a Chinese company, Neither is AMD: They are both publicly traded American companies.

The issue is that when a deal this large happens all regulators(US, EU,UK and China being the most important ones) can raise objection to the deal if it effects their local market, if it does that might stop the deal(if the regulator zone have a significant enough impact on that fields trade) or cause some sanctions on the company if the deal goes through.

China raised a conditional approval after the EU ,UK and US (and a bunch of other small regulators) have approved it.

I wonder why Wikipedia doesn't say Xilinx is Chinese company, I mean if it was sold to a Chinese company.

I don't get it's the same with ARM they're the one who blocked Nvidia's acquisition if ARM and likely to block Samsung's too

China has more freedom than USA when it comes selling its own technology companies to foreign companies.

AMD done this for Future of more integration Internet of things.

One architecture design and few chip choices,,, for many user needs.
