Galaxy S still remain as flagship model until mid year of 2011 I think when S2 came out. And agree, Xperia play didn't get the updates because it's main features for gaming, while ICS not bonding well with only 512mb of RAM for gaming.

Anyway i think Sony is doing ok on with updates, all our Sony and Sony Ericsson got updates, and i don't exactly see our Samsung devices getting flooded with updates either. Those who say 2011 SE lineup was abandoned need reality check. Only xperia play didn't get ics, very rare and eccentric device, they had valid reasons to not upgrade it.

Anonym, 04 Jan 2013Actually it's "Once you go with Xperia you are stuck i... moreI don't worry about the updates. I'm not using official firmware from Sony anyway. There's a good developer in XDA, and they tweak even more from the basic xperia features, such as cybershot mod added, HDR mod already in my Xperia Neo, ICS now buttery smooth as gingerbread, Jellybean update is already there. By using Ramexpander, RAM become 1ghz from 512mb. You just have to work yourself out. And i gotta admit, Sony developer is a bit of rubbish, and for your information, they got a lot of updates for my phone already, until ICS 4.0.4 (What more can you ask for? My phone is a 2011 model!). And luckily we have XDA developer.
Look at Samsung Galaxy S. It's a 2011 flagship model. What happen to it now?

I don't think there is no flash, well I believe because that the back panel is glass so they have found away to hide it under it, u know to make it look more clean.

AnonD-96745, 04 Jan 2013When you go with Xperia, you'll never go back. Elegant UI, ... moreActually it's "Once you go with Xperia you are stuck in time, no more Android updates after the first one (and that is if you are lucky enough to get a first one)".
Sony has to realize smartphones aren't like feature phones, there is more to it than just the hardware.
A smartphone without updates to its OS is doomed into obsolescence, but then again, that is what Sony is banking on: clueless consumers that either accept living with subpar support or throw in the garbage perfectly good hardware that would otherwise be very capable and current with the times.
