AnonD-97174, 05 Jan 2013Love the design but it this won't sell as much as Galaxy ph... morerumors claim that it has an SD expansion slot that accommodates 128 GB cards.

the htc dna droid batt is at 2100 but it lasts relatively long. xperia z is said to have either 2300 or 2800 mah. hopefully, sony did all the optimization to make that capacity last longer.

it really boils down to choice. samsung makes great phones but sony also has equally good devices. i just happen to favor sony, especially the designs.

If this is really how it looks then hats off to Sony. This is really beautiful. I would buy it over the GS3 the only thing I could not tell was about micro SD. I do not forgive any company that does not provide for micro-SD.

This device could really raise the bar and make Samsung dig deep to compete with it.

Can someone post a REASONABLE explanataion as of why Sony has discarded the camera shutter button on their new phones? A touch button interface on the screen is truly a no-good substitute! Taking a photo of oneself and another person is suddenly a no-go if you have to fiddle with touching the right spot on the screen when having the camera face towards oneself. And no, I dont want to use the front camera for this, no light and too low resolution.

AnonD-89174, 05 Jan 2013Haha! I agree HTC is one of the companies that have the bes... morei know and i agree with you...i dont like the plastic material feeling either, but i have a galaxy s2 and i lost count how many times i dropped...aroud the s2 i got some scratches, but the display and the back are intact..you see what i mean..they do that on purpose, to make it lighter, much less breakable and cheaper for retail..i dont use any cover, case, whatever because i like to have a thin smartphone in my pocket and i know someday, like anyone else who has a smartphone, will buy another one...thats why i dont care if has some scratches..smartphones or cell, you buy it and exchange it in 2 years or less(some people)...they are "disposable" because the technology and our urge to have a new "toy"..we dont buy it simply to make a phonecall...im looking forward to the s4...If i had the chance, I wouldnt wait and probably end up with the HTC BUTTERFLY, which is amazing and gorgeous, but only in Japan and taiwan i think...if you doubt about samsung quality, not talking about plastic material, but quality to resist day by day "human accidents", go to youtube and see the video from their labs...s3 endurance test...awesome...the people here are judging a sony phone that is gonna be launched...it is supossed to have a very high specs...wait until s4 comes up or htc butterfly...dont compare it to the s3...and about this xperia z, the material looks very good but the design..as a guy said in his comment: "Its kind of iphonish"..i agree, but everybody has their taste...lets be happy and buy whatever you like...afterall, with this "battle" between them, we consumers get better products...remember how was a smartphone some years ago? not so smart

Currently the best is snapdragon S4 pro .
The pro had real device on market for several months .
But until this point , its still the best processor .

Love the design but it this won't sell as much as Galaxy phones IF:

                                  - it does not have user upgradeable microSD storage; a lot of ppl don't have reliable 4G to use the cloud, a lot of people don't trust privacy in the cloud, and micro SD storage is cheap! 64gb for $40 for Class 10.

                                  - it does not have user replaceable battery. It will take a lot of juice to fill that 1080p screen at 30fps.

                                  - if the internal battery is average size, this will be a fail.

Unfortunately, PLASTIC IS THE BEST MATERIAL to create a removeable battery door without having to resort to hinges. That's why almost all phones that have removeable battery use plastic. No other material is more bendable and still retains its shape. There is memory metal but it's expensive and you need a heat gun to help it remember its shape.

Also PLASTIC IS LIGHTER THAN METAL. I think the best compromise would be a metal skeleton like the Sony and use plastic for everything else.
