12 February 2022
The R1 Nano is a compact, ultra-short-throw ALDP projector with a reasonable price tag.

I could download YouTube, Netflix and other apps easily on Fengmi R1 Nano and it is quite user friendly, compared to the heavy projectors, this one is user friendly and light weight, Easily Portable, If we can have a power bank suiting the needs of other mobile gadgets we can power this also and use it.
Overall an excellent piece of Projector with the Laser Technology, Ultra Short Throw, i could go up to 120 INches and that itself was quite big for the house.
It can reach 200 inches and I think how it would look
Hats off to Fengmi R1Nano team, it is easy to install apps and also access it in English.
To use Projectivvy tools helps more
An excellent buy for the cost it comes up

As read in the comments laser UST projectors do not lower contrast. In fact, those UST laser projectors have best contrast among projectors. You get around real 2200:1 with this R1 Nano, which is excellent. On the other hand, laser long throw will provide 1000:1 and LED projectors around 500:1. I myself own this R1 Nano projector and what's described here is true : brightness is far from 1200 ANSI lumens. I own Xiaomi 2PRO LED DLP, rated at 1300 ANSI lumens, and it is way brighter, like twice more. A recent review here in France actually measured just below 800 ANSI lumens. As it may seem enough, picture lacks punch in my opinion, even in dark. Regarding sharpness, since R1 Nano hosts a 0,23" DMD chip, actual resolution is 540p with XPR simulation to 1080p. So, it is not sharp at all compared to Xiaomi 2PRO projector native 1080p 0,47" DLP chip. But, contrast and black levels are great, so xith many movies or TV shows, picture is good in Movie mode. But not great. One other downside is fan noise : it is not loud, but since noise is made of mid frequencies mainly, it is cleary heard.
On software side, you cannot install nor Netflix neither Amazon Prime Video, since there is no widewine L1 in FengOS. I managed to install Plex, but decoding is sometimes slow. Also, Bluetooth audio/video sync is not well managed.
Therefore, a better option is to use HDMI stick, as Google TV w/Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV 4K or Xiaomi TV Stick. Among those three, I found Xiaomi stick to perform best, picture quality speaking. The other two reduce too much noise from image and it is less natural. But I wonder if Apple TV would provide a noise reduction free image.
A better choice seems to be Fengmi R1, with 0,33 DLP chip, better brightness and silent fans.

Do most people use these when a tv is not available? I guess they are quite convenient for giving presentations and such.

$1k for 1080p, unless one is renting and keeps moving as the portable aspect is good. otherwise, UST has poor video quality as it lowers contrast as it illuminates the ceiling in addition to loss of brightness
