GAMIR3DH, 06 Feb 2022He hates OLED, thats why.IpsDisplay always needs to take copium when he's on GSMArena, not being able to accept that AMOLED screens have overtaken LCD and are just better. The example they provided (the LG G5) has a horribly washed out display, it absolutely should not be used as a benchmark for what's good. I used to favor LCDs like him, but as soon as I bought a phone with an AMOLED display, I realized what I was missing. The burn in problem wasn't relevant either, 3 years in and I still haven't noticed any

Phones made after 2020 really haven't interested me

To this day I still consider the S7 edge one of the best cameras that I had compared to the s8, s8 active and s9+.

Nexus One, 07 Feb 2022I think it's tough saying this particular year was the... moreAgreed to some extent. But what if we rate the present moment as the worst in history?
We have our national productivity ruined due to social media on every phone. Everyone needs supervision and motivation all the time. People are getting lazy. Managers' jobs are on overtime mode.
I can remain in discipline, but can I discipline my country, or my employees? All the time just scrolling and scrolling. And complaining of basic rights snatched if we take their phones.
I still remember Nokia's (& Sony Ericsson) smartphones which always did the job without being an indulgence, and without compromising privacy. Any era after that was a compromise, where the phones were always 'oversmart'.
Rememer how 1400 mah batteries used to last for 2-3 days, in smartphones?

I think it's tough saying this particular year was the best year for phones because technology is always improving. I used to say 2016 was the best year followed by 2014 and 2013 but would I never go back using phones released those years. Do I really want to use a phone with only 2 to 4 GB RAM and be stuck using Android 6 through 8?

Most praising for past phones comes from nostalgia because many of us can't embrace what's going on at this moment. Then there are folks who are prisoners-of-the-moment and keep praising whatever moment is happening to them at that time. Like people on social media. Everything and everyone is the GOAT at that moment.

Best phone I had, after 5 years the battery and eventually motherboard got dead

The Galaxy S8 was really the one that took design to another level. The Pixel 2 XL and Pixel 3 basically copied its design. The knock on the S8 and S9 was the hideous placement of the fingerprint scanner. S9 was a little better but it was still pretty bad. Too bad Samsung never returned to making a proper successor to the S10e.

We don't appreciate phones released in 2017-2020 but that might have been when Android software peaked. Many phones released in 2017 can still used today and haven't slowed down. Essential Phone and Pixel 2 XL can still be used today with no fuss. The latter's camera can still hold its own against more modern devices even if only single cam.

Alin, 07 Feb 2022I am still using a S7 Edge. The battery is still good enoug... moreSame. I just love this phone and don't wanna leave it untill it dies. The camera is still comparable to the new mid range phones. Plus the weight of this phone makes it a lot better.
I don't experience any big lags or stutter so It does the job for me.

In short , I just love it :)

I'll soon be moving to Canada where it's cold which can also be detrimental for a phone's operation.

There are people using it even today and a few months ago Samsung even released a security update for it. Is it possible you used the phone long term in a very hot climate?
