Lenovo Legion Y90 tops Master Lu benchmark, packs 18 GB of RAM and 1 TB storage

14 February 2022
The peak performance slightly edges out the competition, but this phone's forte will be sustained performance thanks to two cooling fans.

More ram no problem

This is a flagship gaming smartphone so it should have specs that make jaw's drop in shock amazement and be extreme

Grunger666, 18 Feb 2022can someone explain to me the point in such a spec in a pho... moreFrom what I've heard it's cheaper to put more ram into a phone these days than optimise the software to run better hence so many phones have 12+gb of ram.

can someone explain to me the point in such a spec in a phone when most android games are optimized to play at 4 gb to 8 tops. theres futureproofing yourself and it just being ridiculously overkill.

if your that heavy into your gaming then do it on a bigger screen with better optimisation? surely?

Really? 99% of games on phones are pure garbage, so I don't know what's 'heavy' about them. I would understand if it runs Doom, Tomb Raider, Crysis, GRID, Mirror's Edge, StarCraft but for now, eh..

To bad I won't be able to use with att or any of its subsidiaries. Because Lenovo won't run it through att network certification. Asus ROG 5 is the only gaming phone that has gone through and passed the certification.

Stuffing more RAM into mobile phones will just further encourage lazy developers not to optimize their apps since they will have more resources at their disposal. What the heck, why do you need all this stuffed into mobile phone. Basically, for braging rights, or simply said, because they can.

Of course 18 GB is an excess, but some device has to have the most RAM, and this one does. I also think you can now stream normal games even on non-samsung devices with steam link at this point, of course 18 GB ram isn't a requirement, but it's been a long time since you can also play PC games on mobile devices. I do enjoy it because I can just lie down in bed and don't have to sit at the table on my PC :D
