Apple will now give price estimates for repairs in certain countries

      This is only relevant for actual Apple stores. For authorized service centers, they are allowed to add on any fees on top of Apple's recommended prices. So, for many people in countries without Apple stores, it doesn't change anything. The authorized service centers can charge people however much they want. And since Apple restricted access to their parts, these authorized service centers essentially have mini monopolies in their area of service.

      And Apple doesn't care. They keep partnering up with sleazy companies that are obviously have no ethics.

          Apple should do this from log time ago.and lowering price for repair or allow their user for DIY.apple only has small number type after all.for maxing their revenue ,they SHOULD DONT ALLOW 3RD SPARE PART.

                I do not know about tablets, but it is funny to see that on phones the screens cost no more than 15-20% of the whole hardware cost, but the replacement often costs 30-40% of retail price.

                I bet Apple still charges $600 to replace rear glass on Pro Max.

                  Speaking as an iPhone user, it’s baffling to me that is news-worthy in 2022. Apple should’ve begun offering on-demand repair estimates for ALL of their products a LONG time ago – it’s the bare minimum of information consumers should be provided with in an emergency.

                    So now they will first inform people before robbing them of their cash. So polite of them to do that
