The same lawsuit has been filed in other countries as well, Switzerland and many other European countries seem to be affected as well.

If even the most basic tech could be patented then no new tech could be created without paying huge fees to multiple patent holders. When a patent infridgement is settled in court it should always be questioned whether the patent even is legitimate or whether it restricts the market too much. Seeing how many businesses have been sued for using EVS that might be the case tbh, especially because it's now settled in Germany it might go into that direction.

        This is a good news!

I'm waiting for HMD's destruction. HMD is a big failure and needs to eradicated.

        Please stop making Nokia phones!

WE WANT REAL NOKIA BACK! NOT THIS HMD-NOKIA IMPOSTOR!

Even if this company wasn't the original inventor of the tech in question, they own the patent which means they paid for it. Why would they settle for other companies infringing their rights for free? Spoiler alert: you can't answer this question because you've never produced/patented anything of value so you will never comprehend how copyright works.

And btw, not everyone that holds a patent is a "pAtEnT tRoLl". In fact you're the only troll here, taking the side of a shit company that's infringing the rights of another. Since you can't read anything more than the two lines that form the title of this article : This company didn't patent VoLTE itself but rather a form of it called VSE, so everything you moaned about regarding VoLTE is null and void.

May I also ask why are you this keen on engaging in s3xual intercourse with HMD? Why do you want their D this bad?

Also it's a standard tech, if you don't want volte, you can't just force all mobile network operators to switch to your tech. A patent troll can't be allowed to control who can and can't use volte. It's hard to understand why anyone would defend a patent troll.

HMD-Nokia, their proper "home" is in Shenzhen, China.

Their headquarters might be in Espoo, Finland, and their financial entity is operating out of Cayman Islands (tax haven). But most of their hardware and micro-code is a turn-key solution that is developed by Foxconn.

...so yah, people don't support this company

HMD is hoping that the patent holder will realize its not worth suing them and pull out of the case.

Well, HMD are doing nothing for the Nokia brand to get a new look or gain market again, just releasing boring phones and no support at all...even the prices dont match what others brands do so, why pay more if specs are lower? Just because the Nokia brand? i dont think so.

That must be a fun "battle/challenge" to implement a particular IP into VoLTE on a 5g/4g device then decide how long to leave it/use it before simply sending a patch to fix it.
