Trooper, 27 Feb 2022It is a huge computer keyboard with a computer inside it. ... moreWhere in the article that says that the Apple II is a keyboard? Don't be silly. It's a computer with an integrated keyboard. It's not a keyboard with a computer in it. The same goes for a laptop. It's a computer with an integrated display and keyboard. A laptop isn't a keyboard with a computer in it and a display attached to it.

Would love to see this. Their M processors run efficient and cool, perfect for something this size. And the bottom half of their Macbook Airs already pack a lot of functionality into a very small space. Please make it happen Appel!

Back in the 70s this configuration was common. TRS-80, Commodore 64 and others had the computer inside the keyboard. Just add a monitor, and you're good to go. I guess everything old is new again.

                            a throwback to Apples origins.

this is likely to have an M chip running OSX and if that's the case would be so much better than any other keyboard PCs that have other ARM hardware and run Linux or low end x86 and Windows.

Seems to overlap my and many other's prior art. Like the Sinclair zx spectrum QL, zx80. But good on them :)

Just the other day, I was admiring the secondary pop-up keyboard display on a Asus Laptop, wishing I could just have a computer like that, bringing back memories of the old Amstrad with the colour Sharp display. But, the truth is, that a laptop that thin is impractical for editing documents in page view. However, it would be nice to add a display to this one, as the display would not be such a wide ratio. Nice what you can do with Arm processor.

I've been meaning to discuss about crowdfunding an updated wireless transmission technology, instead of Google Chromecast, which had to go through a router and is clunky, and older wireless computer versions were still clunky. I was going propose point to point and low latency, technology which would be useful for this, as an open standard. You could use this for game consoles, phones, tablets, and watches. A simplified model could lead to low cost hardware with sufficient speed to do 8k uncompressed and 16k wide screen, maybe compressed. But, a watch transmitting it's 320*320 or less screen, it needs a lot simpler IO speed display mode. You can even pass commands to tell the adaptor to display feeds from each person's device in the room on screen next to one another, to have group gaming. So, device side, you have variable resolution and use the lowest tech mode to handle your resolution. On the adaptor side, you buy the grade you want to use (TV, 720p+ FHD+, 4k+ 8k+ 16k+ etc. The plusses means ratios and resolutions close to that resolution, such as 1366 wide monitors, and 4:3 and extra wide ratio monitors.

We really need a wireless display technology for this.

Is Apple making their own Commodore 64?

This does seem to be an interesting concept, even if it is, as previous comments say, a laptop without the screen. Although then again, they're cramming it into a smaller space than a laptop's body.
