Panasonic has also announced in a separate deal that it has agreed to sell a LCD panel factory to Japan Display. That plant, which is located in Mobara, currently turns out 600,000 LCD TVs a month. The factory sale has started working from April 2012.

                  RIP Nokia Lumia PureView.

Sony spends a lot on R&D when it comes to camera technology. The Exmor camera sensors are one of the best available.

Nokia? Damian Dinning, the brilliant guy who invented the PureView camera technology, has quitted. Nokia is now run by a bunch of clueless ex-Microsofties. The smart people have already left.

AnonD-100675, 13 Jan 2013Coomon sense? You say JDI makes 600,000 LCD TVs a month. I ... moreseriously you are insane i just copied a small article and it is the capacity of just 1 factory.
And you also didn't see this thing that.
JDI focus on small- and medium-sized displays for a range of applications from mobile devices and other consumer products to automotive electronics and industrial equipment.

So it is specifically for cellphones and other products but not LCD tvs and also JDI purchased that plant from panasonic, so that mentioned capacity was for panasonic
                    kindly see the full article

AnonD-97413, 13 Jan 2013i also know that thing but now they are taking it from JDI.... moreCoomon sense? You say JDI makes 600,000 LCD TVs a month. I believe sony alone sells more LCD TV's than that in a month. Again, it is highly POSSIBLE that sony still buy from the other (especially samsung), and POSSIBLE mean it's maybe true and maybe not. You take it too serious or maybe you're a devout sony fanboy?

What sony knows is fitting the best hardware with latest android software.. Its innovations are limited to only the design side of the device...
Now what samsung does is that they invest their energy on new innovations in both the software and hardware department.Earlier they were not at all punctual in providing updates but now,Its always the 1st one to provide their flagships with new firmware and that to with some high value added features.
LOOKS CAN BE DECEPTIVE, go for the real performers which as it seems is sammy at present,.IF sony thinks that it deserves that place then it will have to improve alot else it will just keep on bringing new xperia just to be eaten by sammy droids.

Sony is also working on next gen OLED panels at JDI and that's why they have shown world's 1st and largest OLED tv at CES 2013 and sony has also OLED tech as they are using it PS VITA.
Sony has also flexible screens with white magic tech.

as sony has shares in JDI and JDI has started working and producing panels so why it takes from samsung??

they don't use it because oled is a good technology but still needs improvement so they stay with lcd tft and yes they don't use ips because they want to use there own technology

The screen is obviously the star of the show - at 5" and 1080p, it's the sharpest screen that Sony has put on a phone to date and, while not unique, its pixel density is probably beyond what the human eye can perceive.

Images are rendered beautifully (with Sony's Mobile Bravia Engine 2 bringing a noticeable boost), though we do have some complaints. The viewing angles could've been better and the glass covering teh screen is quite reflective too. Still, it's easily one of the best screens we've seen.
