I agree with you though, original iPods are surely not "vintage", when I think of vintage music players I think of console stereos (think 1960s Magnavox Astro Sonic)

I would consider it to be a bit old though, and by the time the vanilla 15 comes along next year, I would probably consider it fully old. But definitely not ''ancient''. Hell, I consider the first iPods to be just ''retro'' tech and not ''ancient'' because they still have some use.

                Apple called it Pro Motion.

Apple design things takes awhile, because they do not simply put the tech for no reason or for bragging rights to be the first.

So what is in Pro Motion? It includes adaptive refresh rate, battery management, and application optimisation.

Same with their TouchID / FaceID / AirDrop.

Its interplay of software and hardware, seamlessly working for their platform.

Thats why its so hard for other company to copy.. or even get it right.. because they are either focus on hardware only.. or software only.

Apple will keep old design. The phone is too inexpensive to get face ID and Apple won't crap on their flapgships by making it have a smaller notch.

Anonymous, 03 Mar 2022thats it? lolFor ages Apple has placed 120 Hz refresh rate on iPad. It's infact the first mobile device to have 120 hz.
You think Apple wants to keep it?
I'd rather have stable 60 Hz than to have a crappy, flickering 120 hz display.
And secondly, it's immature to have 120 Hz when it compromises the battery life by a huge margin.

I see that Android phones has solved them with some (adaptive refresh rate technique).
Still, I would rather have a stable 60hz display than one that has buggy software.
                                .
And for those who kept repeating that 120hz is Android's piece of tech, let me repeat: It first appears on Computer screens, then on Apple's iPad, then comes android mobiles, much later.

You all 'tech enthusiasts' are not even amusing.

You can buy one if you care about refresh rate so much. I frankly don't. It'll be great when all iPhones have high refresh rate, but I'm not going to rush in store to get one because my ancient XR still serves me great after all these years since release and 60Hz doesn't bother me at all because it's just so incredibly smooth at everything I do with it. I'm on iPhone for other reasons and not because I'd be specs obsessed person like 99% of people here on GSMArena.
