Funny fact is we don't even know how much 6a would cost (other than some guess). Even after we find out, if you think 6a overprice, then by any means please buy realme instead... In the end one have to decide which sacrifice they're willing to make (price, camera, processor, OS, etc)... I'd take 6a over realme anytime but that just me... No one force you to buy 6a...

It would cost less (I would guess around 500-550€) than most flagship (cost 700-800€ or more).. As far as I know, there is no 2022 flagship phones that cost less than 700€ atm. So I really couldn't understand how could you say they charge "flagship price" for pixel 6a... Putting that in the context, the sensor trade off is sensible in my opinion...

Realme 9 Pro+ might have newer sensor, but it cut corners in other department (using cheaper mediatek soc for example). In the end if you buy midrange phone, you'll need to sacrifice something. Sometime it camera, sometime soc, etc. You can't pay less money and hope for the exact same configuration with flagship...

Eliezerjk, 08 Mar 2022People: complaining about the older sensor also people: us... moreI agree that people probably couldn't tell the difference. However, that's not the point. It's like saying that most people won't notice a faster chip in day to day use, so we'll use a SD662 and charge flagship prices. The IMX363 is at least 4 years old; imagine if the chip was that old too. Given even Realme is using the IMX766 in its midrange 9 Pro+, it's kind of disappointing that the 6a isn't following the lead of the 6 and 6 Pro.

I will probably buy this phone, but 6GB with Tensor is a bit of a weird flex TBH.

Pumpino, 07 Mar 2022The IMX363 again? The same sensor as in the 3a, 4a and 5a. ... morePeople: complaining about the older sensor
also people: use their phone camera for almost exclusively for posting in social media (=heavy compression)

Honestly... I can't understand why so many people complaining about the older sensor... I bet in a side by side comparison, without knowing which image take with which sensor, most people won't even notice the difference (except maybe pro photographer, but even then the difference probably marginal)...

Too big. Disappointed that there's no small Pixel phone anymore.

And why the camera hump that makes the phone more than 1 cm thick, when it doesn't even have the larger sensor of the Pixel 6. That makes zero sense.

                        Why same camera

The IMX363 again? The same sensor as in the 3a, 4a and 5a. If they're moving to the Tensor chip, change the camera sensor with it.

Depending on their cost, this is the phone they should sold in the beggining or is a massive failure.

Of course, Samsung, Apple or Google send a new software support rather quickly, to correct their mistakes, compared to Chinese phones. But still, there are mistakes and bugs sometimes.

                                  - hardware has many foreign components. That need to be shipped to Foxxconn, then pay import taxes while chinese uses many local components
                                  - phone is designed in USA, employees cost more than China

Being "inferior" when reading specs means nothing. Do not forget crap iphone 13 pro costs more to be made than any chinese flagship.

they just stay cooler due to their early throttling, even in Geekbench, no Galaxy S22(Snapdragon) reached 3800-3900 multi core score, unlike other Chinese phones, so these benchmarks (also 3D Mark) are clearly not making them look better than the competition.
