Xiaomi was first to release a ceramic phone (Mi Mix) followed by Huawei. Oppo isn't 1st or 2nd, but the phone looks good.

It's not just the improvement in looks, it becomes more durable. Not sure about the heat transfer part though. I thought ceramics have poor heat transmission. But definitely high heat tolerance.

All that effort, and they retained the normal midframe. One of the key benefits of a ceramic back is that it's transparent to RF signals-no antenna bands!
One only needs look to Xiaomi's MIX series to see this benefit.

Now if only this phone had a pop-up selfie cam it would have been a worthy upgrade to a 1+ 7T Pro. No Under display and no Punch hole can compete with a clean display experience that pop up provides (feeling of privacy as well). Instead of dropping entire pop-up tech, industries should have worked on improving it, Sad days...

So, all the effort and budget went into the ceramic back instead of a better camera setup. Seems like most of the BBK phones released this year are more about looks than any meaningful improvements i.e. Reno7, Vivo V23, Realme 9 Pro etc.

If this phone has a periscope lens, good short range tele, as well as lower price, this may be my 2nd phone of the year. Since s22 ultra has too slow charging and i don't like the feel of boxy shapes. Mi 12 Pro meanwhile has that MIUI and the cameras aren't on par. While Oneplus 10 Pro snaps in half and had an average camera system.
My first fav phone is still Realme GT 2 pro
