Remember when iPhone 6 design was nice and considered modern.
iPhone SE3 remembers.
Lol.
Thus being said, I wish I was in the design team at Apple. Lots of money and less work. Lol.

I loved the original blocky design of the iPhone 4 and 4S, but didn't like the Glass Back. So when they got rid of that for an Aluminium Unibody, and stretched out to 16:9 on the iPhone 5, 5S, and SE, I was so pleased. I did admire the miniature size of these devices, they can even slip in a front pocket (eg discreet recording), but I have big hands so always preferred large screens since the original Samsung NOTE 1.
Anyways, when Apple made the move from the 5S to the 6, I didn't like the aesthetics.
The rear camera now had a bump, the sides were curved, and the device was detrimentally thin (smaller battery, more heat, less rigidity). And it was unfortunate seeing Apple carry these design problems into the future series; 7, 8, XS, and 11.
With the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series, the back glass is more frosted and is less fragile. Whilst the sides are now squared off and chamfered, which makes them less slippery and more ergonomic. Apple still has problems in their design, with their camera alignment and that dreaded notch.
I have a feeling if Steve Jobs had a say, the iPhone would look quiet different to how Jony Ive and Tim Cook envisioned. It would have a flat ergonomic design, a flush rear camera, and backplate would still be a metal alloy which would help with cooling. Sure, he would've killed off the 3.5mm Headphone Jack, but he would've also removed the USB Lightning, and made it portless. As a trade-off, he would've bumped it up to IP69K protection, increased battery size, and added a Fast Wireless Charging/MagSafe. Also, it is very likely Steve Jobs would've gone for a symmetrical design (use it upside-down/upside-up) which means using the slim rim at the top and bottom to house front-firing stereo loudspeakers on the front. There would absolutely be no notch, it would have an underscreen Selfie, and Security would be handled by TouchID implemented inside the logo on the back.

Much like the trackpoint and keyboard on a ThinkPad, the iPhone SE with its 4.7" LCD and TouchID button is a mature, well-tested design. The LCD won't give you eyestrain like AMOLEDs will. It will take better photos than 80% of phones out there with its well-tested AI and OIS. And it will receive security updates far beyond whatever phone you are using now.
Kudos for figuring something out and then sticking with it. I wish more companies did this --- we could have Lincoln Town Cars with electric engines, for example. The iPhone SE has a subtle everyday look at this point that won't get you robbed on the streets of Bogota. Cool phone.

Even after 8 years they couldn’t at least shrink the bezel above and move the touch id to the side 🤦🏻♂️

Hire a designer and good developer for iOS from China. "Designed in California" is boring.

I am still using iPhone 6 as my secondary phone in 2022. No Android user can imagine using an 8-year-old device...

A stolen design from HTC with antenna stripe.
A bendgate scandal.
And side mounted fingerprints readder like the one on Xperia is much better. Your thumb, pointer, or middle finger (depend on which hand you're using) will land naturally on the reader. No need for finger acrobatics.
