If you can't compete, cheat the test lol

Anonymous, 16 Mar 2022Btw if it is stuttering even when pulling the notification ... moreThat is what you called a bug. This can possibly happen with any phone whenever an update introduces it and is usually fixed later on including xiaomi, pixels, oneplus, and iPhones. And for the second time, GOS limits performance on apps not notification shade.

This shows that sd 8 gen 1 which is based on inferior lithography raises its temperature fast. While s7 - snapdragin 865+ which is based on healthy 7nm tsmc lithography does not need to and so what you get in the bench is what you get in the game at least for a decent amount of time like 30 minutes or so.
It also shows why exynos were traditionally behind snapdragons. Because snapdragons traditionally have been based on tsmc silicon. Now that snaodragons are also based on samsung silicon they experience the same heating problems as exynos have for most of the time . Simple. It's not the superiority of the architecure, but of the process node.

A 4370mAh battery simply can't reach that. And this mysterious behavior started with Android 12, nearly a year after release.

He's really mad that his A52 is lagging even though mine and most other people's A52 device have been running smooth. I even told him that GOS doesn't throttle apps on certain devices such as A series because they don't processors that overheat like flagship to begin with. I even gave him evidence where Geekbench said based on their testing they won't band A series device cause GOS doesn't show any negative impact on performance. But for whatever reason, he thinks GOS is making his A52 lag and stutter even in the UI when wrong cause it only affects apps which is one contradiction in his statement. A next contradiction is that he says that "they usually do this a year later so that people buy new models" even though that's not how GOS even works. His A52 is not even a year old but GOS is making his phone start lagging according to him and GOS is affecting the S22 series even before they were publicly available. I tried to tell him but he still thinks the same way

Anonymous, 15 Mar 2022They sell products that look good in benchmarks but perform... moreThank you for your insight.

I agree that a user should get full performance they paid for and Samsung should be more open about things like these.

What I meant by saying "I fail to understand" is that, imho, this doesn't seem like a big deal if only a few apps gets affected and by only around 15-20% mark, judging by modified Geekbench scores at least.

                  As Androidpolice stated:
"Our own digging into the actual code governing this throttling behavior have confirmed that not all apps are affected, and the degree to which it throttles performance can and will vary. Our own examination of the logic indicates that GOS is a very sophisticated system that takes into account multiple variables when throttling performance to varying degrees, including temperature, expected FPS, power consumption, temperature, and more. This may also help to explain why the tablets tested did not throttle as hard as the Galaxy S22 series phones — more space inside likely means better heat dissipation, and the system can take details like these into account."

Considering what they said, this throttling doesn't seem like an issue and if that helps extend the life of the battery and the device itself, I don't really mind Samsung doing it.

Now if Androidpolice's findings can be trusted and if this was legitimately the reason for doing it, is a completely different topic, which I can't comment on. I might be completely wrong on this whole thing. I hope not.

When OnePlus did that to conserve more battery on certain Power hungry apps on power hungry 888 inside OnePlus 9 , they accused them of slowing down, not offering fastest performance and what not, even though real world evidence didn't show any slowdowns except for benchmarks by super biased Anandtech

Respected members like iOSneveragain and others on this site have pointed out downclocking of processors by Samsung long back.

This is why their benchmark scores are lower and battery life on S21 Ultra Snapdragon was lot longer compared to other flagships with Snapdragon 888

If you actually watch Golden Reviewer's video, you will see that turning GOS off does dramatically increase Genshin Impact frame rate, but only for the first minute or so before the S22 Ultra has to throttle due to overheating. After this there is no benefit for GOS and in fact with GOS the FPS is up and down, whereas with GOS the phone keeps a steady FPS throughout. Additionally without GOS the phone uses more power and gets hotter. In short, GOS does a good job to keep the game playable.

That's why disguising the benchmark as GI slows the phone down, but not when it knows it's running a benchmark as maximum instantaneous performance is required irrespective of future throttling.

It's not cheating, but well managed gaming performance. Now you can turn off GOS if you like, but playability is better with it turned on.

Hilarious. Serves them right for making such inefficient chips that need to be throttled to not burn your hands.

I bet there's even grounds for a lawsuit.

LMAO I have a tab S7+ with 943/2909 points and an S10e with 690/1909 points they are definitely very good products. Of course there are some apps.. which won't run without laggs(not every app optimized for every device(like Facebook Messenger was before, I didn't receive any notifications, if someone wrote). As for the ban: some people "unlocked" the tab S8 and wanted to see the maximum performance, also Samsung made it clear with the Z Fold 3, they didn't encourage it: if someone unlocks the Fold 3 full potential, they screw up the cameras(ALL OF THEM(just simply won't take any photos nor videos) and it's irreversible, because of the modified BIOS so RIP and goodbye warranty. Also Samsung devices can't be routed anymore thanks to the improved security(thank you Samsung). There's no need for throttling, there are many-many original Samsung smartphones/tablets, so why make these products bad, because of that stupid "benchmarker". On my first Samsung device(it was an S8), there was a high performance mode, which can be activated manually, for own risk.. I used it few times, there was thermal throttling after 30minutes because of the heat

It's not l... moreThey sell products that look good in benchmarks but perform like trash in real life apps. There is no intelligent throttling, just throttling per app and they usually do this a year later so that people buy new models. They have been doing this forever and now we know which package they use to do this.

I don't know about you but my A52 is also affected, now imagine a midrange phone like that becoming even slower. I have terrible lag in messaging apps when previewing gifs for example. Even the UI is lagging often. They returned to touchwizz days which turned into a lag fest not long after you bought the damn device...
