AnonD-96463, 18 Jan 2013i am still using using my two favourite symbian phones noki... moreYOUR favorite Symbian phones. And YOUR using them doesn't mean Symbian is alive and kicking. A handful of Symbian lovers like you are not going to turn around Nokia's fortunes. They did put in quite a bit of effort to make Symbian more appealing, even tried to draw in developers, but neither the consumer, nor the developer, could find much of anything desirable in Symbian.

Nokia were perched on the summit. What possibly could these new OS's do to us? That was their one mistake: their failure to recognize the threat that iOS and Android posed. Both OS's were much better than the clunky, dated Symbian, and both had begun to draw the consumer and the developer by the flocks. Today, Symbian has a wee little presence in the smartphone market, while iOS and Android control, what, 80-90% of the share.

Symbian was always destined to die. It was never in competition with the two most prevalent OS's. If Nokia had acted in the appropriate manner when they eventually DID start to perceive the threat from these fledgling OS's, they wouldn't be in the dismal state they are in now. Today, their entire future depends on the success of Windows. If their affair with Windows doesn't work out--and judging by their financial situation with the numerous factory shutdowns, the job losses, and the selling of their own headquarters--it's definitely time to say goodbye. Nokia would either be no more or, at best, would be relegated to a maker of cheap feature phones for the developing markets.

Wp8 - lets make a smartphone OS that is so limited and then just add those little functions like wifi on while screen off, so that ppl will think that we care for updates. Even if those functions should have been there on day 1. Wp8 is iOS wannabe. Haha! Even gingerbread is more functional than that.

WP8 apparently has the most ridiculous limitations. WiFi is on only when screen is on? What a bunch of rubbish

Is it me or am I thinking wrong... Nokia going backwards in connecting people??? Keeping WiFi on, sms functionality these are features that should be there from day one, wp8 is so rubbish and I feel sorry for Nokia as windows is not the best os for connecting people

I still love nokia. Been using since n73 and today 808. But what I don't like nokia is they ditched symbian and can't force us to use lumia handsets.

An open feedback to nokia how much technology you have invested in lumia range at least 10% if you had invested in symbian you would have never been like this.

They should try to rollout such important updates in one shot to all involved.

Any news about whether these devices will get the next major Microsoft update.. something named "BLUE" ? Dont want a repeat of the 7.5 scenario.
