The Samsung Galaxy Watch5 will have slightly larger batteries for the 40 and 44 mm models

01 April 2022
Last year only the larger watch got a bump in capacity, this year it will be both.

I have a GW4 and this battery upgrade is likely insufficient. I charge my watch every night at 9pm and barely get a full day. Finish on about 15% so this tiny bump in battery life might mean I would finish on 30%... It's still a single day battery life.

Huawei GT 3 is the phone to purchase. 14 days battery life. Even with extremely heavy use day and night you are assured of seven days. Wear OS watch out for harmony OS.

I either throw my Apple Watch 5 on charger before I go to sleep or when I wake up in the morning. 80-90% charge generally gets me through day without a problem and I use Always-On Display mode, but without wrist wake up. Basically it's always on, but doesn't get extra activated when I move my hand around. Looks and works great. I used to wear automatic mechanical watches that never had to be charged as well as solar models and I got used to this pretty fast. Would be cool if solar charging was possible with smart watches. Imagine Apple Watch with all the features it has now, but would charge enough through solar panel alone to operate. That would be insane. Or at least to dramatically extend the daily wear time. But I doubt that will ever happen as smartwatches just consume too much power.

That battery size increases not going cut it should be 350 and 500 with wear of and that would only last a few days if they can find a way to shrink batterys

Huawei Watch GT3 has a built in thermometer and lasts 7 days for 42mm and 14 days for 46mm.

I use the GW4 "classic" because it has the ring to help protect the display.
As far as battery life...with BT on, Wifi off, tap to wake & flip your wrist to wake
disabled, I wear it 18 hours a day. (turned off after work, until bedtime). HR, Blood
O2, sleep tracking enabled. I get about 3 1/2 days battery life.

400 euro for some exrtra thermometer? No Thanks. I will keep my Galaxy Watch 4.
They mess up HR and Sleep Tracking anyway. It's not worth the upgrade.

WearOS slashed battery life to almost half compared to Tizen. Pinging and uploading health data constantly to Google's servers comes at a cost .. At the expense of the user of course. I will keep my Watch3 as long as possible.

That's good news because I see a lot of people complaining about their Watch4 having almost no battery life. Which is funny because my Watch3 (the small 41mm version) with a much worse processor can hold up for way longer.

Not worth it without screen protection ring! That's why watch 4 classic survived better.
