Three LG phones will get Android 12 in Q2 2022

Three more are in line for security updates.

Software updates can be so overrated. Apple makes us care about them when they are really making our phones worse the more we update them. My iPhone SE1 is practically unusable on iOS15. Battery dies so fast.

nice... my v50s will get 12... though i have not updated it to 11... same with my g8...
my wing, i mean the phone, is the only lg i have that i updated to 11...
i am quite satisfied with the software on g8 and v50s... updating them to 11 will bring the wing kind of ui to those, and i prefer 10 on those, quick toggles look better and are more acessible, one hand, than on 11...

The only company I see that give real update to $100 phones are HMD Nokia. They may not be as fast as the likes of Samsung or Google, but they still deliver their promise about OS update to current models. The last time I use a $100 phone, Xiaomi NEVER release a single update!

James Nana, 04 Apr 2022No Lg V60? The latest flagship doesn't get Android 12?... moreThe V60 is a carrier-locked USA-specific phone, so it will take a while before it can get a new OS update since it needs approval from the respective carriers. And yes, believe it or not, LG never sold the V60 in its home country.

Glad to see the V50 is on the list. That is still one of my all-time favourite flagship smartphones to date. That said, I still remember that the Velvet and the Wing are eligible for three major OS updates*, so I'm truly hoping to see Android 13 making its way to both phones.

LG Wing NOT getting Android 12 is maybe why I want to get it. I'm kinda praying my Motorola Razr 5G does NOT get Android 12. I absolutely hate the aesthetics of it. But considering Razr got Android 11 in late-July of last year, I expect the same getting 12.

I might want to sell it before it happens but I do love the device enough not to. Motorola has the worst update policy and I kinda want them to prove it by not giving us 12. Because who knows? What if I'm forced to update to 12 and it ruins my phone? Forced updates is to help planned obsolescence.

My Razr 5G under T-Mobile does not give me an option to skip an update. They automatically update and then restart. Trust me when I tried everything to stop it. Went through all the options. It's a forced OTA update. At least my unlocked Flip 3 gives me the option to do it later and they only ask about once a week. Sometimes longer.

No Lg V60? The latest flagship doesn't get Android 12?
                    Am I missing something?

Avoid android 11 and 12 at all cost.
They must break your audio/ camera/ scrolling/ Netflix whatsoever.

Pumpino, 04 Apr 2022I'd love LG to return to its glory days of the G2, G3,... more2012-2015 was when LG peaked tbh

I may sound weird, but I wish LG would come back! Use a different marketing strategy, make quality products and they can be among the top dogs.

GN10, 04 Apr 2022My velvet has been updated with the latest software, and it... moreWell I own a pair of LG G8X's, coz it comes with GOD AWESOME Meridian Tuned LG's famous QuadDACs. These are 4G variants of LG V50S. Analogue sound quality and power output are like Heaven on Earth through the audio jack, provided you have some quality headphones.

However last year when it came to Android 11 update on these phones I was bitterly disappointed. With Android 11, LG seems no more interested in analogue audio quality as if it goes down the drain.

LG Mobile had already made the strategic decision before shutdown in 2021, to remove the audio jack from their high end phones, as the unreleased Velvet 2 was devoid of it. Hence the software team was instructed to no more concentrate their synergy on the analogue audio part to bypass the crippled Android audio stack.

With Android 11, G8X lost some details in the upper range of the audio spectrum, those dazzling highs were missing. The famed Meridian Audio tuned sound signature, a trait of G8X also seemed somewhat tamed.

I later downgraded both my G8X's to Android 10 and got back that awesome audio quality. So my suggestion will be, if you are an audio fanatic, stick to Android 10. Else you can move up to Android 11 and later versions, though the delta of improvement in UI performance and new features will be very small.

Anonymous, 04 Apr 2022Dear market, please give us back LG and take Realme instead... moreOh yeah, I totally agree. I would take an LG any day over Xiaomi/Realme. They were real innovative (but bad marketing), but many people fall over the marketing gimmicks.

The phone came factory fresh with Android 10 in 2020. I love this phone coz it is so different from other Chinese manufacturers, as if it has some character.

The LG made LCD display, albeit 720p is stunning for its price.

most of these phones are above $600 what's special? any updates of your $100 phones LG?
