iFixit will sell components to repair your Pixel phone, going back to the Pixel 2

This is an official partnership between Google and iFixit. Google is also partnering with repair centers in more countries if you don't want to do it yourself.

      True, it uses too much power even for basic tasks. Never been able to get more than 6-6.5 hours of SoT even with my low usage, and a 6 month old device nonetheless.
      Which Pixel do you think is a practical buy now, the 5a I am guessing? I don't need flagship chip as long as day to day tasks are fluid. Will the Pixel 5's midrange chip be able to hold its own after 2 to 3 years from now?

        There's no point selling components if the phone itself is hard to repair. Call me back when they have reached Fairphone level of repairability. Until that happens, this is a typical greenwashing to average consumers.

            Mad props to Google for caring about users with their old phones. With all due respect to Xiaomi and what they've done for the market, I can't imagine them doing anything like this for their phones released 5 years ago. I mean damn, they probably don't even remember which phones they released in 2017.

                  Pixel 2 XL was the last great Pixel phone. Too bad the SoC is too slow and uses too much power running 2022 apps

                          I don't get why are people complaining about these repair partnering thing-y. It might be similar to the Apple x iFixit thing, but does that mean they are copying? What if everything is already planned and it's just all about timing? AND even if it was copying, so what? A brand did a good move, and people wanted other brands to do the same thing, and when they did it, you guys start complaining about 'copying', 'bootleg' or all those stuffs, like can you people just chill?

                                You can already used companies like replace base here in the uk for older devices, not a new thing at all.
                                I saved cash by fixing my pixel 3a xl instead of using a repair store.

                                  This is good, for those of us who still bother with a Pixel. But iFixit's US-only availability limits the benefits.
