Anonymous, 15 Apr 2022And what's so special on others that can last 14 days ... moreLet me get this right. You get a smart watch, put it to sleep most of the time and do not use the features that they advertise and sell the watch for, and therefore you don't see an issue with it? Is it fine if an iphone lasts 1 hour if you use the screen, but 20 hours if you don't?
I mean, uh, if you don't track health, don't use NFC, don't use applepay, don't track your location while running, don't play music, etc.... what do you use a smart watch for? to tell time? as a status symbol?

I don't know what people are using them so much, but they really don't drain battery that much. Maybe if you're using sports modes constantly where it monitors stuff in real time and not in intervals. Or if you have LTE model. For everything else, not much change. I only notice it slightly if I have a face with bunch of stuff that's updating status via internet connection (weather, wind, temperatures, moon phase etc), but very minimal.

Anonymous, 13 Apr 2022Nothing special... Except they have one of the best display... moreI wouldn't say apple watches have one of the "best" screens. They have a pretty average screen, because most of the more expensive smart watches are all using similar displays. The only reason you'd think that it's one of the "best" is probably because you have never used any other watches?
Apple watches have this really special feature: If you actually use the screen or ANY function, the battery dies extremely fast. If you have a few things linked, the battery dies in less than 7 hours. The only way you get more than 10 hours of battery life is if you do not use the watch for anything.
that short lifespan makes EVERYTHING on apple watches a gimmick.

Anonymous, 13 Apr 2022Nothing special... Except they have one of the best display... moreMan on that tiny screen the difference is almost zero so your statement have no sense.
Samsung, Mi band, Huawei and many else are litterary same apart the price and offered specs. But on a such small screen your so called AOD have minnimum differences.
And when comes to premium apple are too far away from that level.
Even casio for 5 last way longer on charge and does same tricks shows date and time.
For anything else something like Mi band or Huawei watch for 30-50 bucks does same tricks for 500 less.
The different in price is due to apple sticker on them.
But if we exclude sticker you get a china made watches like any other.

AnonD-731363, 13 Apr 2022Not much but hey its apple. Xiaomi Mi band does same tric... moreNothing special... Except they have one of the best displays with watch faces that are the same between active and AOD states. Apple Watches are also unconditionally smooth at everything you do on them. I'd hardly call that "nothing special" when most other watches had horrible performance till very recently and they mostly have horribly cut down AOD watch faces that look nothing like active ones. Which is one of things I can't stand at all.

keep adding featur... moreThis is the correct answer.
A device shouldn’t take a performance hit in any aspect.
This is my biggest issue with Android OEMs; quick to rush features but always at the cost to the user experience.

Not much but hey its apple.
Xiaomi Mi band does same tricks for 30-50 bucks depends on model.
Casio for 5 euros last several weeks on a charge but are only watches for date and time.
Apple maybe does more tricks but apart a very high price dont come with anything special.
If i really wanted a premium brand would buy swiss watch or breitling or patek phillippe etc.

I want my Apple Watch to work as a hammer, get on it, Apple!
I would really like some real test of accuracy. I mean, their hearth sensor is really decent, but other than that I don't see AW passing any real medical certification.
Like temperature ... BS, blood pressure ... super BS etc.

Blood pressure would be of value only if it takes continuous measurements, otherwise, the accuracy of the watches is too poor to be worth it. The non-invasive glucose monitoring would be a killer feature, and even better if continuous. If anyone can pull it off well, it's Apple.
