Also, quest pro will have better specs than quest and will give developers what they want at less than half the price as this. Apple is just ripping off people by pricing this so high. And people like you find ways to defend apple using verbal gymnastics. It is sad that some people like you are rooting for a trillion dollar corporation over common people. As a citizen and a consumer you should be speaking out against apple trying to rip off consumers, not on behalf of it ripping off consumers.

Apple release iPhone to teach Nokia / Microsoft Mobile 6.5 how to make a phone.
Apple release iPad to teach Android how to make a tablet.
Apple release Apple Watch to teach how to make a watch.
Apple release AirPods to teach how to make a wireless earphones.
Time for Apple to teach how to make AR / VR headset. Most will try to copy Apple after this, mark my words! But will fail, because they can't get the awesome SoC like M1.

Dont want to be rude but HTC oculuus with half the specs and 1/4 of its price of apple VR will do a 100 times better job because compared to apple WR thing for 2000 is compatible with litterary everythig.
In case of Apple even low specced Notebooks cost 1000+ and have a specs of a HP or Lenovo students book for 200.

VR is just such a clumsy niche thing. Even if it is a success for Apple, it'll be a rather niche thing regardless within their space and nothing else. People just don't want to flail their hands in space around them and wear something on their head just to play 3 games that do VR well and then it's 500 rubbish games that are VR "just because".
What will actually elevate VR is physical grabbing of objects that some guy solved in rather simple but effective way using servo motors that create resistance on fingers, emulating sensation of pressure on fingers like you're holding a physical object. Guy was featured on LinusTechTips not long ago. But it'll still have all the other issues of VR. VR will just remain a very clumsy niche way to experience games unfortunately. Always has been, always will be.
If you want to try something new and exciting, try 3D printing. Once expensive and very niche hobby, now super accessible and even useful. And it works in reverse. It materializes virtual stuff that others have created or that you've created.

Oculus quest 2 is a massive success with a very mediocre SoC and screens. I have one. The problem is that most games for standalone use are poor because the device is not powerful enough.
When the first iphone was released there was a huge number of good games released to take advantage of it. (Fruit ninja, subway surfers, angry birds). Once apple releases a vr headset maybe the same thing will happen. Developers will be able to work with less limitations. Then other companies will start pushing their own devices. It's going to be huge for Vr

I don’t know who would buy this. I don’t see a use case and not just some functionality, but the entire device seems like a gimmick to me.
