ObserverPh, 24 Jan 2013I salute you Symbian! You're taking your rightful place in ... moreNo. It does not mean Symbian 40. S40 means Series 40. Nokia's own software platform for feature phones and Ashas. It's not for real smartphone.

S in S40 does not mean Symbian. S60 is a variant of Symbian OS. There was also Symbian UIQ and S90(i think).

Ok, you guys are not understanding it. 808 is the last symbian that was release. Nokia will no longer manufacture a phone with symbian os amymore.aking the last device/smart phone the pureview. Is it really that hard to understand english?

we can conclude 2 things from this post
                          ---------------------------------------
1- Nokia can use the same algorithms of Symbian finally on WP OS...we see that on portico update and lumia 510 as their cameras becomes better and better.

2-Nokia try to make 41 mp phones with WP OS but I'm sure that Nokia will never deliver the quality of Symbian by it's WP os in imaging because WP OS is very poor in terms of camera quality

we need to watch what Nokia will do...but they will regret killing this OS...WP and ashas only are so boring...Samsung and HTC and most of companies have a lot of OS's...Nokia has real one only (WP) shame Nokia.

I saw this coming some few years back and i even told my friends about it but they all laughed at me. I love Nokia for the big step they took in the mobile industry as at back then. Today the world is moving with the speed of light and it waits for no one... As the saying goes 'pride bigets a fall'. Nokia's refussal to patner wit Android still amazes me... I still got my Nokia N78 here with me and i still love it but the truth is i have to move with pace of the world. How i wish nokia would patner with android then they would be ontop. Goodbye Symbian Os my first love

The death of wisdom at Nokia... Alas...

They did not groom the baby, they adopted easier and illiterate method. Just kill own baby and adopt someone else's.

I salute you Symbian! You're taking your rightful place in the Mobile Hall of Fame, being a forefather to the new mobile os's of today. You have done a great job! As long as a Symbian phone is alive, you'll never be forgotten..

Wait a minute, Ashas are S40 right? And S40 means Symbian40 right?? So it is not typically Dead?
