I had three Symbian devices they were E 61i, e 71' n8. e 61i I kept for 6 year without any problem, now I am having galaxy note . the great experience was with e 61i and e71 with superb battery life reasonable browsing experience good camera(in case of N8)I mean to say now we will have to draw the line, what to expect from mobile device cause for some battery life could prove to be very critical, to be not able to talk because of drained battery... just defeat the purpose of mobile phone. Symbian was a good and stable operating system. full touch screen phone with multi touch capabilities took it by storm,! if they kept on developing this os that wd hav been better for Nokia, when the storm was over. they can alternatively kept on providing Symbian for low end devices in stead of completely abandoning it. because Nokia cant sail its boat only with windows phone.they should pay attention to ubuntu mobile also. I mean they should learn some lessons from samsumg . I could not understand why nokia refrain form making android phone also?!

R.I.P Symbian :( U teached to the world a lot
    We love you forever.

Few good points i must agree.
However, i strongly feel that Symbian reached saturation, its inablility to utilise latest h/w multiple cores and higher RAM. Yes, we had windows, palm and black berry but most of these devices are not available globally, thats one of the reasons Nokia won.

A company which is a leader for 14 years, goes to near bankrupt in say 2-3 years, WHY?
where are the PROFITS earned all these years?
Why Nokia could not start a trend? or atleast keep up with current Trend?

Why Nokia cannot build a Symbian TABLET? why could not Nokia introduce a tablet for the first time being a poineer?

Why Nokia cannot continue the Meego? why did it leave the potential n900 to chaos?

      Why s40 is doomed?

please dont say its elop, thats rubbish. things started to decline way before elop stepped into Nokia)

Stubborn, inability to adapt, pricing are some of the factors that lead to cease of Symbian, observe closely and you may find the same reasons for BB downfall, only hope for them is the BB10,but we all know they lost a large share by now.

I still feel that Symbian UIQ was much better that s60 S*!+ in many ways, a decade back p900 was my first smartphone and i am very happy with it. As some one rightly said, the best symbian s60 device is not from Nokia(leaving n8), but from Samsung and Sony. Now , i have no intentions to neglect nokia's devices but one should agree that building a good device is acheived not only by Nokia but by other OEMs as well.

AnonD-68354, 25 Jan 2013Simian (Symbian) and NOkia ruled monopolistically for more ... moreWow! Your head is really stuck up there! Nokia truly ruled back when there were variable alternatives; in fact, there were many popular brands out there that really held their own and maintained a following. Brands such as Motorola, palm, and Sony-Ericson were quite the power players (honorable mention goes to Sanyo who brought innovative products back in the day, but disappeared into obscurity), and Nokia lead the pack. The Symbian OS was near perfect as it was, I admit, they struggled/procrastinated on firmware issues, @ the end of the day, Nokia delivered solid, quality products that performed above par in many regards. In addition, when the sales staff @ Nokia introduced me to the world of unlocked phones, I was amazed at how much more reliable a mobile device can be when it is owned w/o a restrictive contract commonly imposed on the market by service providers. Right now, I have an n8, which has the 2nd best camera phone on the globe right now. 808 pure view surpasses n8 in that respect. My n8 simply blows away my colleagues' iPhone 4S & 5s in terms of available features and build quality. I've thrown my phone across a room got demo purposes and not a scratch on my phone. The screen still looks new after 2 years of use & living in my pocket without a case. IPhone users can't even do that with their phones because they know it'll shatter. IPhone is only worth the apps, which humanity had chosen to salivate over. Over 1 million apps and ppl will just use 3.5 of the same apps daily (if even that much). Symbian and Palm had many great apps via third party, but apple took the market. Android came not long after and got a solid foothold in the market too. HP could've enjoyed success in the market as well, in fact I wanted the palm pre 3, but HP killed the popular Web OS which said stand toe to toe with the IOS. Bottom line is that I can do more with my Nokia n8 than IOS users & Android

I bet he can't say that his phone never hanged nor crashed, as i can say this that my N95 worked flawlessly for 12 and half months, without any crash or hanging issue.

1: When Nokia rulled, there were enough systems to be bought and to fight against Nokia. And that is not all, there was sony erricsson and samdung making Symbian devices to.

2: There was enough developement and competition: PalmOs, windows mobile, blackberry. But i don't expect for a Troll head like you to know something.

3: Nokia rulled cause they are the best. And back then people liked quality,a nd we all know you can not compare Nokia devices with the crapp that is out there right now.

4: And what are those viable alternatives for you? Ios and android? A lockedhead and a messycrap? Come on man, stop beeing troll and pretending you know something, when in fact you don't know s**+. I bet that you were 5, when people choosed symbian over windows mobile or blackbery or palmOS... When people choosed Nokia over others. And those were 10 times more reliable os's then the crappy ones this days. Problem is, this days people are cheap, living by the trend. No personality, no nothing. They are made of plastic and love crap. Nokia was stubborned cause, didn't wanted to sell it's soul for crap so to stay alive. Nokia hoped people have cummon sense, forgetting that idiocracy era started a long time ago. Nokia hoped and believed in people that will mature and realise some things. But is to late, there is no hope for the sheeps. But still, Nokia didn't solled it's soul to crapp and bet on something people have no idea. But, in this days, when sellouts rulle. It is a more then a wise choice for nokia. Soon as wp becomes a trend, all so called ”smartphone users” will switch. But, at least microsoft are experienced and mature. Hack, they invented systems in this world. Old is gold my dear Troll, now. LEAVE!

Symbian, an OS like no other..!! Still using my X6 with S60. Whenever the 4n get stuck, the Music player is funtioning perfectly. I don't know how they have done that magic..!! Before Android, Symbian was ruling the whole world and the sony was also using symbian. Samsung was no match for Nokia in tjose times. Well, I hope Windows will be able to help Nokia to win his Kingdom.

                              I am very sad today.

A jouney of 15 years came to its end.

Today Nokia 808 pureview is sitting on crown of most desired camera phone.

The last Symbian but still a giant.

Salute for the Symbian mobile os.

                              Crown also goes for nokia.

                              Who made symbian a legend.

Symbain will always be in heart of nokia fans.

                              Rest in peace!!!!.

People were forced 2 buy whatever Finnish frozen delights NOkia threw at 'em, like it was manna from heaven cos they were literally the only player in the field! As soon as viable alternatives emerged, Symbian n NOkia's end got accelerated at an incredible pace! NOkia's recent history has been riddled with one bad choice after another n they're headed all the way 2 the abyss-1st sticking with the Symbian cr*p n then joining up with MS for another star-crossed OS WP8. The only shining beacon for NOkia is the NOkia Siemens Networks business, which brings in their highest revenue! It's hi time NOkia diversified their market reach n product portfolio if they don't wanna go back 2 their humble origins of paper and rubber producers and RIP Symbian might soon become RIP NOkia, if they don't start saving their rears right now!
