    I do hope that Motorola can step up their software policy game and give another OS update for phones with Snapdragon 800 series chipset. They are still good for three to four and even five years of use.

      I think Joe public couldn't give a stuff with the latest updates on android. Every tech news site go OCD on having the latest and greatest updates. Threatening to boycott companies who don't do a Google or Samsung.

        Exactly. Motorola is far behind when it comes to updates. They release new phone models and forget about the second system update.

          Android versions: 4, if released in 2021 or later, otherwise 3.
          Security updates: 5 years (4 if released in 2020 or before), monthly patches for 2 years followed by quarterly patches.
          Samsung Galaxy A:

          Android versions: 2 minimum, 3 for some high-end models.
          Security updates: 4 years, monthly patches for some flagships for 1 year, then quarterly or half-yearly in the last year.
          5 years for "select devices".
          Samsung Galaxy M:

          Android versions: 2 minimum.
          Security updates: 4 years, quarterly, or even half-yearly in the last year.
          Samsung Galaxy Note:

          Android versions: 3 if released in 2019 or later.
          Security updates: 4 years, monthly patch for 2 years followed by quarterly patches.

            I would never buy a phone without at least 3 major android updates and 4 years of security updates.

            Motorola makes decent phones on hardware side but the software support is just terrible.

                If you still bought a Motorola phone, it's your problem.

                    I hope this is not the last OS update for the G100. It's frustrating to see Motorola haven't clarify the software update policy for the entire lineup. So far, they only released confirmation for some of their flagships - that too was after they flip-flopped a few times.
