Google Pixel 6 may receive audio feature like Apple’s ‘Spatial Audio’

27 April 2022
This is hinted in the first Android 13 Beta, though not confirmed.

I have an iPhone and use Spacial Audio all the time. Don't confuse it with Sony's VPP or any other virtual surround effect. It's actually very good. Speakers appear to sound like they are coming from the front, and rear speakers a little to the side/rear. Move your head to the right and you hear sound coming from a rear speaker that doesn't exist for example. It's strange but kinda cool!

AirPods Pro sound very good (not as bassy as Bose, but more neutral).

This would be a cool feature to have on Android.

On the other hand, without any "trickery" Sony 1 I/II/III speakers sounds really bad as they are really poorly tuned by Sony. Dolby tuning does add a lot in this case ... but that just because Sony could not be bothered to test and tune their own speakers.
PS: I don't really care for sound quality of built-in speakers as I do not usually use them, but doesn't Pixel 6 Pro sound better than Xperia 1 III?

Kev, 27 Apr 2022Lol, I disagree, even as a Sony WH-1000XM3 user. The APM... moreNo, the APM's have an ear-percing, artificial height boost above 14khz. Also, sonys ANC is better on high frequencies though. And really any half-decent headphone can have impressive sub-bass if you use a parametric EQ and lift anything below 40Hz by a few dBs. It's all about DSP nowadays. Some even have it accessible on hardware-chip level with the airoha app. Stop shilling for apples overpriced lifestyle gadgets.

Anonymous, 27 Apr 2022Wow.. android copying. Cannot innovate anymore? Hahaha.Sony androids had virtual surround settings (room simulation) even 10 years ago with the Xperia V and so on. Audio fakery really isn't something innovative to begin with. Just a scammy company like apple can sell it that way and blinded customers buy and celebrate it...

And they definitely have more headroom for bassheads than any bose/sony/apple, if needed. For 80 bucks it's a no-brainer. You might gain a bit in terms of ANC or build quality with bose/sony/apple, but sound-wise they won't offer more, apart of LDAC codec hi-res audio on the sonys maybe.

The APMs are flat-out better in terms of build quality, user interface, ANC, and sound. They sound more balanced and have amazing sub-bass. The ANC is better too; The low-frequency blockage is the same as the Sonys, but they exceed in terms of midrange frequencies. The weight isn't an issue either. Some headphones weigh much more.

The only issue they have is the fit. The headband just doesn't fit me compared to the Sonys. The forward bar takes all the weight, and it hurts even after 10 minutes.

There's a deal-breaker though. After 5 years, the battery will die and then the headphones will die permanently because they don't work unpowered. Such a shame, because they're SO GOOD. If you've got the money, go for it. If not, go for Sony and Bose.
