I'm using XA1 and planning to buy 5 II. In XA1 some apps allow a part of them to be saved in SD card. I wonder if the same can be done with 5 II with android 11 or 12.

The music apps quickly shifts from song to song, and search for a song is also quick.

I have Xperia 5 ii (XQ-AS52), Android 12 - and I can enable storage on SD card in the Photography app and the image stores on the SD card. No problem.
It was the same when I was on Android 11.

I've been looking at the Xperia 5, and this seems to look like a great time to replace my Poco F3. I tried using my friend's Xperia 5 iii, and I'm totally hooked.

My only gripe with Sony phones is that stupid 21:9 aspect ratio. It only works for a selected amount of people and mostly people would prefer 18:9 - 19-9 aspect, but no Sony keeps on doing what Nokia did. Listen to the market and customers Sony, then you'll succeed. Come up with a more practical aspect ratio so that other consumers can also look for a Sony phone other than just cinema enthusiasts.

asvaberg, 28 Apr 2022Rumor is that the SD card slot is omitted on Xperia 1 IV...... moreGoogle disabled microSd cards with a combination of Android 11 and PlayStore restrictions on API use. Phone makers can work around that by enabling a legacy mode but Sony doesn't seem to have any software devs. The microSd card on their current phones is essentially unusable. (PlayStore only allows access to APIs that are 10x to 10000x slower. Apps stall or lock up looking at the card.)

Save it la Sony. Your phone sucks so much ever since my 1st buy of your Xperia S flagship & my believe on Sony has dropped ever since.

i hope they'll keep the microsd card and 3.5mm jack or if they dont, those kids would be mad and crying and whining about the absence of 3.5mm jack and micro sd
