Anonymous, 28 Apr 2022Really shameful for OnePlus, even my less than half price S... moreTrue, my second hand Galaxy S20+ received Android 12 with One Ui 4.1 couple of months ago. And I am still receiving monthly security updates. And we are talking about a 2 year old model.
While my Realme GT Neo 2 was still in Android 11 maybe 1 month ago. And that one is a 6 months old model. Not to mention Realme promised monthly security updates in the first year, but I received one per 3 months, lol. But, I already sold that one recently, so I don't care anymore.
Of course, spec wise chinese phones like Xiaomi, Realme or OnePlus are really nice. This is their way of attracting customers. But recently, their prices have gone up (almost at the level of Samsung and Apple flagships), while their software quality have remained at the same level like in the past.
Android X to Android X+1 maybe is not that important, but fixing some minor bugs in the software or security updates are far more important. If you need to wait 3 months for those, in new phone models (6 months old), then is not good. I can't even imagine what will happen after 1-2 years with these phones. They will be completely forgotten by their companies.

As long as there is no DC dimming, I won't buy Oneplus because of the flicker it makes me feel dizzy and eyes strained a lot.

Nord2 getting Android 12 Beta just as Google starts sending out Android 13 Beta. Oneplus really has ironic sense of humour

Maybe they could release more timely updates if they stopped releasing phones on a weekly basis. This is only the first open beta and it's only for the Indian version. I suspect it'll be June before we see the stable version. I guess OP did say the first half of 2022. I'm glad I sold mine this week.

Really shameful for OnePlus, even my less than half price Samsung M21 is running Android 12. They were once known for quick updates, parent company is slowly killing OnePlus and it is very sad indeed.
