Samsung's flagships have always left plenty of profit margins for dealers, and they have been accompanied by a lot of discounts when they are bought.

I returned my S22 back to samsung because of very poor battery life. And i see market is flooded with second hand S22 for cheap price, people are selling them in panic. In China where i live you can literally buy 2-month old S22 for 3500rmb(530USD), thats for 256gb version, that 45% value lost in 2 months.

AnonD-1048078, 02 May 2022What you said about cheap Samsung phones is available only ... more” And in countries where people are more wealthy, they equally buy S series from Samsung as they do iPhones.”

No they don’t, if that’s true, how Apple can sell more iPhones in one Q than Samsung their S series in whole year.

”They don't buy cheap Samsung phones.” Yes they do! That’s why fraction of Samsung sales comes from flagship sales and that’s why their average selling price is something like $250 while Apple have around $800

AnonD-1048078, 02 May 2022What you said about cheap Samsung phones is available only ... moreNah I am going to disagree on that as an operator contractor. The midranger A series will always outperform the S series by a huge margin. Because a lot of people use their phones for at least 3-4 years. And even the midrange A52s/53 has better features than 4 year old flagship. Like 120hz, 5000mah battery, 5G, etc. So its kinda stupid to shell out 1349eur for a s22 ultra, while the A series is 399 and already better than the old phone.

The A 52/53 series is basically "the best bang for the bucks" price, and it doesn't lag like the cheaper A13 series, which sells less.

Also a lot of People are not going to spend so much money on a phone, especially for their kids or students or old pdople with small pensions.

There is not a problem with affordability, because you can easily get a phone with a contract and pay for in 24 installments so its like 40eur per month for an iphone 13 pro.

-Trix-, 30 Apr 2022"more than half of Apple sales are from the US." ... moreWhat you said about cheap Samsung phones is available only for emerging markets. And anyway, in this countries people are not buying iPhones.
And in countries where people are more wealthy, they equally buy S series from Samsung as they do iPhones. They don't buy cheap Samsung phones. So, your comparison is also not 100% true.

And most of the Chinese Android brands have gone way beyond that line. I mean just go look at the Xiaomi product section of this site right now, there are 40 devices on page 1, the oldest of which was released in October 2021, around 5 months ago, that’s 40 devices in 5 months!!!

Is it any wonder that brands like Moto are struggling to offer consistent and reliable software support when each of their product category’s has about 30 different devices in it. I mean, it’s not even a joke at this point to say Moto put out more smartphone models per year than they do software updates.

I for one think the Android oem’s would be better served reigning their product lines in, considerably. Targeting key price categories across the market with 2-3 devices per annum at most, and devoting increased resources to marketing and supporting them.

Again not true, i live in EU and iPhone is selling really really well. Only high-end smartphone which have sales. Samsung sales are coming from their cheap low-end phones.

Likely i dont believe to that.
My company in Slovakia selling Xiaomi and Samsung phones pretty well.
Among all most known 10-15 brands any of them sels better than Apple.
                          Reason is very simple.
Average monthly salary here in Slovakia is 800 euros from which half goes to bills so average Slovak citizen buys phone up to 200-400 eur devces where Apple dont fall to this category.
So i dont believe those numbers are true.
We sell like 50 phones a day on average from which mostly Samsung and Xiaomi. Shares like 75%. Motorola shares laike 10% and rest of the 15% of average 50 sold phones of a day goes to other brands such as Nokia, Sony, Huawei, Honor, Apple etc.

Anonymous, 30 Apr 2022Your argument has many flaws: 1) Many people buy Apple not... moreLast week it was "People buy Apple because of logo!", this week it's "People buy Apple because it's American!". I wonder what excuse it'll be next week...

Lets just ignore the fact Apple is very USA centric company and a lot of services work super nicely in USA. And there is also a subset of people who don't like Google and their insane data hoarding. And what other alternative is for Android? It's iPhone with iOS. I'm not from USA, but I certainly fall into second category. It's why I like iPhone. OS wise it's super smooth and fast and it runs OS that has nothing to do with Google. I also don't use any Apple services, so I'm not really restricted to Apple either now. But I really didn't want to use Android because of Google. Using 3rd party ROM was just too much of a hassle and came with more problems than it has solved by not having Gapps installed. So I just gave up on that nonsense.

AnonD-1048078, 29 Apr 2022You are seeing just what you want to see. True, that there ... moreSo? You literally listed CHOICE even with iPhones. Why would there be a need to release 15 iPhone models every year just to saturate every single price point imagineable like all Chinese phone makers are doing? This notion that offering needs to exactly fit into everyone's budget is so stupid and it really annoys me. And it's not just in smartphone industry. Remember how we had 50 graphic card models with all the silly SE editions and minor number changes just so they fit into everyone's budget exactly? Thank god that crap died off and I wish same would happen to smartphone industry. Whole thing has been stagnating for a while, they are just shuffling around minor components and features and releasing new models that are just confusing for most.
