26 May 2022
The phone may be known as the Galaxy Xcover6 Pro instead. The GPC also confirmed some details we have seen in previous leaks.

Olympus Oms, 26 May 2022Bring back s active! And make it available on the global ma... moreIt would be great if they brought back the Active.

They better not have an OLED panel, or else that's Samsung giving us the middle finger and killing the Xcover series. An LCD is a REQUIREMENT for a phone that is targeted at business. You don't want burn in on your phones after a year. People are stupid with work phones. People WILL have it on max brightness and WILL never turn of their screen manually, this needlessly wearing it out. These phones are designed to be used heavily and for many years. AMOLED is inherently incapable of performing that task well. Very sad news. I really hope they be sensible that put an LCD in it.

Anonymous, 28 May 2022"fans of the first three features still won't buy... moreAs of yet there is good reason to hope it will not be that large. Note that no official size spec has been released, and the dimensions given in the first leak were just estimates based on the pic - essentially something like measuring the USB-C port and extrapolating from there, not an easy thing to get right as the render was angled.

AndroidPolice has a new estimate based on the screen resolution and density specs from the Google Play Console, getting a screen size of 5.8", well below the initial 6.5" estimate and actually smaller than the current XCover Pro. I feel this would be too good to be true, but we shall see.

you have to suffer, 27 May 2022sd 8 on a removable battery device?? what?? are you insane??Can't you read? Ok, I'll repeat myself.

Yes, someone should make a phone with removable battery and Snapdragon 8.. chipset and OIS in camera. The last phone that has all these features is LG V20. It also has 3.5mm jack, FM Radio, Infrared port remote, proper 16:9 screen ratio, microSD card slot, no notch or camera hole on screen, no curved screen edges and corners, call recording thanks to Android 7-8 versions, faster and unrestricted access to file system and Android/data and obb folders, superior IPS LCD instead of the inferior AMOLED. LG V20 is much better and has much more features than all newer/modern smartphones. The only thing that is better in modern smartphones is the chipset (CPU/GPU) and camera. Modern smartphones are garbages. I hatte this fact, because I want to play PC games on the phone using ExaGear Windows Emulator, but the V20 is too weak for that.

Speak for yourself, I already bought the previous series (Xcover 5) this year.
The only reason why I won't bought this one is because its huge 17 cm long body, compared to the "compact" body of the previous model that was only 15 cm long.

you have to suffer, 27 May 2022removable batteries can have some problems, if you are in t... moreThere is a reason why ads filled with undersea smartphone photography/video filming no longer exist.

And repairs on sealed phones will have a high chance of causing it to lose factory IP rating/sealing. Making them even worse than these Xcover Pros.

you have to suffer, 27 May 2022removable batteries can have some problems, if you are in t... moreSalt water is brutal on electronics. IP-ratings assume only clean freshwater, and all bets are off if the device is immersed in salt water. It can corrode contacts and dissolve adhesives. It is also very conducive, and components that are normally allowed to get wet (in freshwater) can get fried in salt water.

Certainly, users who do not put back the battery cover properly will be in trouble. But consumer phones with non-removable batteries are no more suitable for marine environments than properly used rugged industrial phones with removable batteries.

Anonymous, 26 May 2022Removable battery, SD card slot, 3.5mm jack, water resistan... moreI will 100% buy it, for all of those reasons.

Sure, I could carry a bulky battery bank and have a cable hanging out of my phone when I'm out in the middle of nowhere...or I could just carry a couple of spare batteries and be good for days?

I had a phone without a 3.5mm jack for the last few months. Thought it wouldn't be an issue as I primarily use BT earbuds or headphones but I've been blown away how often I needed the jack and didn't have it.

Similarly water resistance...I tried going without and it didn't end well.

Anonymous, 26 May 2022And like always this phone will only be sold at a few placesThe Xcover Pro (version 1) is available globally, even from our terrible retailers in Australia and we generally don't get anything cool.

I for one am extremely glad that Samsung are giving this a refresh as it wasn't even up to scratch at release.

Note9 had a Exynos 9810 in 2018...then they release this with Exynos 9611 in 2020? It was a bad decision. Slow and laggy from day one, but with every other key feature that I need.

Personally I'm excited and will be buying one.

blue, 27 May 2022And guess, why did they stop S active? Correct, only a few ... moreMaybe people would not change their phones that often if fixing a consumable component was not such a hassle.

Anyway, nowadays removable batteries remain a standard feature for rugged work phones used by industry, first responders and the like, so it is certainly important and useful to those for whom long term uptime is critical. XCovers are marketed towards such customers. For the consumers there are consumer phones with different features.

blue, 27 May 2022And guess, why did they stop S active? Correct, only a few ... moreWell, do you remember s5? It has replaceable battery and back, but was still water resistant up to 1m. The active didn't have replaceable battery, so why are we even talking about it? But yes, sadly the active was America only, and only 1 telecommunications company. That's why so few were sold. People could still buy unlocked versions though, and use it globally.

I really don't understand crying for removable battery, when people change their phones every 2-3 years. That's the most useless feature in the phone world.
