Wonder how is the security on this? so if I play youtube on my smart tv will neighbours next door be able to control what i'm watching? I hate ads inbetween a video. Youtube should only play ads at the start and end of a video. Not inbetween.

Darknoor, 02 Jun 2022Isn't casting = I have to keep my phone connected for... moreNo. Casting offline content directly from phone (movies stored in the phone, etc) only requires the phone to be connected all the time to TV while casting. Casting Youtube, netflix, amazon prime, etc doesn't need a connection with phone all the time since the content is pulled directly from the respective servers online after initiating casting. Recently casting Youtube is further improved by opening the actual Youtube TV app when casting icon is pressed. This is the reason you felt you were having this feature for more than a year. But the new feature mentioned in this article is different. Like the article says, "its not easy to explain on paper", but a feature you will instantly fall in love with and will then think why on earth this feature was not there all this time.

              Cheers..!!

In my case, I press the "cast" button and the video plays on the TV but then I can even close the youtube app or even shut the entire phone down and the video will play as if I opened it from the TV app.
EDIT: I also can do the commenting and reading description on my phone while the video plays on the TV. I had these features for at least three years.

Had this for around 4 months, a friend of mine has it for 6 months and a lot of other people I know never had this.

I am very confused... I have been doing the same thing described here for... years now on my Samsung TV.
                          Am I missing something?

I've been using this function for the past 1 year and you guys are posting about it now. Great

The name of the article is very confusing.

I hope you know that there is an app called "YouTube TV."

I would change the name as below:

"Now, the YouTube app on the TV magically connects to the YouTube app on your phone"
