iPhone 8 and later are getting iOS 16, support for iPhone 6s, 7 and SE dropped

iPadOS 16 also drops some old devices - very old, e.g. the iPad Air 2 from 2014. watchOS 9 requires iOS 16, so that may cause some issues if you have an old phone.

Since updating my iPhone8 to the iOS 16.1.1, the screen will not go dark/black. This is draining the battery. I did a 'power off' and then a 'soft reset' and there is no change.
I'm not finding any articles addressing this.
Please give me a solution. Thank you!

    Can I still make phone calls from my iPhone 6s ? What is the problem if I keep using it...will it stop working? Please can anyone clarify that? I am not familiar with the technical meaning of the word "obsolete" in phones .

                  I'm just saying this that android from 2014 can still be used instead of IOS from 2014.

Also, the UI on Android phones seem so boring and lifeless to me - take a look at my old A8 as an example. Not to mention the terrible support range - only 2 years long for support! Apple does give some support for 5 or more years, which is why I stick to Apple.

                              Other reasons as to why iphones are better. Especially on the top model.
                              1. Long software support.
                              2. Easy to get the apps that you wanted.
                              3. Processor is build for gaming.
                              4. You can get the 1TB variant.
                              5. Is widely available. As well as customer support.
                              6. Doesn't get screen burn in.
                              7. 120hz display.
                              8. IP68
                              9. Better resolution.
                              10. Has Dolby Vision. Especially on the camera.

                              Coming from both a samsung galaxy note 20 ultra 5g and an iphone 13 pro max owner. I could say. Getting a snapdragon variant is harder than exynos. And exynos SUCKS! Especially on gaming!

Android 10 on my Moto e (2020) takes 13GB out of my 32GB even though Android 6 on my ZTE phone takes only 5GB. I think Android 12 would take ~18GB. Not worth it for the marginal improvements from the software updates.

                                  iOS 15 also made my iPad Air 3 noticeably slower with touch input and the system lags more. Software bloat, especially with operating systems, always nullifies hardware improvements.

OIS has been a while since nokia lumia 920? one ui icons looks so boring. exynos?? no buy. gcam support is lacking with that unless you have to waste your effort on finding the proper build. its just like mediatek but samsung. i'd rather go for a pixel if available for cheaper in my country.

                                      Newer apps won't work on older OS versions no matter what OS you use, be it iOS or Android, macOS or Windows. It's the same vice versa too, x86 apps lost native support entirely in macOS 10.15 Catalina and Windows 11.

                                      Also this 'newer features on old hardware don't work' thing has been going on for years - an infamous example is Windows Vista where the Aero interface effects (the main selling point of Vista that MS was bragging about) weren't even available on older computers with hardware that didn't meet the recommended specs. Older hardware isn't able to run newer features, that's just how it is. But manufacturers still want to give you newer versions of OS software so that you keep getting support for as long as possible, even if it means you miss out on features and performance.
