iPadOS 16 also drops some old devices - very old, e.g. the iPad Air 2 from 2014. watchOS 9 requires iOS 16, so that may cause some issues if you have an old phone.

                    Apple probably intended to have a maximum update cycle of 5 years for all phones. But Covid19 happened so the way Apple supported their customers was by giving one less reason to buy a new phone.

                        Anonymous, 08 Jun 2022Many midrangers got great cameras and powerful processors. ... moremidrangers cant have good cameras without having to oversharpen and upscale raw 12MP image to 50MP jpeg file. they still look like oil painting. even galaxy phones are so over saturated to look like HDR. also even xperias isnt that good anymore i still like the image quality they produce. no photoshop or anything, and it has more features too than most flagship galaxy series. 3.5mm jack and a expandable storage.

                                        Yeah, but Apple was still selling iPhone 7 up to September 2019, so some people have had less than 3 years use before it's dropped.
