Wasn't always that way, anyone remember the 7420 in the Galaxy S6, that was a great SoC at the time. If course it was made to look all the better by the fact that it launched the same year as the SnapDragon 810.

Ever since embarking their illfated 'mongoose ' custom core program though, the Exynos has suffered. And even though Samsung pulled the plug on that, they have never gotten back their momentum.

DaFink, 09 Jun 2022An ‘Exynoss’ might sure, why not 🤷. I don’t think an Exynos... moreTrue, Samsung just aren’t capable, they need to stop embarrassing themselves with their Exynos chips, heck even Qualcomm have not managed to match the Apple A12X chip 🤣 that chip is now 4 years old.

Koishi Komeiji, 09 Jun 2022ok troller. Seems the Apple haters are triggered 🤣 it’s a difficult time for them when not a single device their favourite manufacturers produce are all over year behind Apple.

" The term "3 nanometer" has no relation to any actual physical feature (such as gate length, metal pitch or gate pitch) of the transistors. It is a commercial or marketing term used by individual microchip manufacturers to refer to a new, improved generation of silicon semiconductor chips in terms of increased transistor density" Wikipedia

Let's say real size of transistor is 5nm, this means (2*10^5)^2 per square milimeter & ~16 trillion on M1 size chip, while it has 1000 times less in reality.
I know, this calculation is very crude and chip industry has almost magical progress, but some comments here forced me to write this. please, don't be fooled.

[deleted post]Oh cool your back 👍 now we can look forward to several poorly typed anti Apple slurs, complete with atrocious spelling and grammar. Until the mods make you go away again that is.

              [deleted post]ok troller.

And here we go again. People will compare ARM/RISC architecture to X86 architecture again 🤦🏻‍♂️

                          Stunning work by Apple 😁
They are no longer being held back by slow and backward companies that used to produce their chips and now have more freedom to innovate.

The M1 remains unmatched on its power to efficiency and is giving incredible battery life on M1 Air, cannot wait to see how M2 devices go!

I remember my AMD 64 X2 from like 2005ish, That I bought in early 2007 since the prices finally came down. A whole 90nm but at that time of its release, was considered one of the most powerful yet efficient desktop CPUs in its class.

Koishi Komeiji, 09 Jun 2022imagine 1 nm processor. too tiny for nanometer fabricationAfter 2nm there will be 1.4nm and possibly below 1nm, but take these figures with a grain of salt because it‘s all somewhat marketing. For example, Intels 14nm+++ is similar to TSMCs 7nm.

                                        3nm...
I remember when my Pentium D Desktop was said to be much efficient and wouldn't increase the electricity bill that much even if you use if for more than 4-5 hours a day. It was also said to run cooler and didn't need Air Conditioning. That was 65nm lol.
