As i see in all android phones available in the market there is essentially compromise among the important spec of a phone the processor, the ram capacity, internal storage and the battery backup. this phone with 1700 mAH is a compromise. my experience with a very versatile android phone without speed (processor to be atleast dual core 1.2 GHz) space for processing(RAM to be atleast 2gb), internal memory (internal memory to be atleast 8gb for storing of apps else the external memory will slow the system) and ofcourse to power the system else one will have to keep charging the phone( battery MUST be atleast 3000 mAH).

I do not know why the manufacurers do not know the above basic requirement in a phone (other then to keep selling them to the same market again and again)

how can it be weaker? the m4 has 2gb ram and dual core 1.2 with sense 5 and android 4.2.
And for people that hate on htc because of battery.. Maybe you use it too much ? obviously if you are on it constantly the battery isn't going to last long. I use to normally get a nice 18 hours out of my one x while watching vids on youtube, internet on the go, and texting like every other minute.

I will not buy a phone with just 16GB of storage and no optional upgrade. Cloud storage still doesn't work as well as local storage, and 16GB is barely enough for high quality music (even mp3s) and videos. Even the 32GB on my One X is limiting.

AnonD-87222, 01 Feb 2013Wait, so their new mid-end phone will be weaker than last y... moreHow? One S has qHD 960*540 while M4 has HD 1280*720 screen, not to mention the 2GB of RAM.

It's nice to know that some companies saw that >4.5"-screen is not everyone's cup of tea.

Sony's Huashan and now, HTC's M4. Keep it coming.

AnonD-57033, 01 Feb 2013Man HTC really need to come up with a unified naming system... moreThey're obviously aware of this, but HTC phones never gain enough popularity like iPhones or Galaxy S series to do so.

Man HTC really need to come up with a unified naming system for their products. And marketing, since they both are interrelated. Identity crisis much HTC?

man, the 320x480 resolution is ancient.! I like budget phones but they already have the Desire c and Htc Explorer with the same specs.! Budget phones should have atleast 480x800 resolution now.

Who still buys from HTC or want their phones? Look at what HTC did to their Amaze 4g. No update and most of their phone just dies suddenly. I don't think I will ever buy any HTC phones, ever again.
