For some reason, I started using my Essential Phone a couple of days ago and then this Nothing phone (1) gets revealed. That's it? This is what the co-founder of OnePlus and father of the iPod can come up with? And this is after they bought Essential Products last year?
It looks like the iPhone 12 but it borrows from the Essential PH-1 from 5 years ago as well. I do kinda dig the back for being unique but it's not the LED lights are useful. Just more cosmetic gimmicks that doesn't add value to usage. The biggest letdown is Snap 7 series. This phone better be less than $300 then. For an extra $100-$150, you can get an A15 iPhone SE 2022 or Pixel 6A. And they'll get supported for half a decade. Not go belly-up like Andy Rubin's company did after 2 years.
It's starting to look more like an Essential Phone 2 where nobody buys this and there is a fire sale for close to $200 for it less than a year later. At least the first Essential Phone came with a flagship SoC.

Apple copy most of it's feature from others. It takes years for them copy nicely and then demand as innovation.

So I hope we will see the screen revealed in a couple days. Very curious to see what the bezels/chin look like, and what kind of camera cutout they'll go with.
Let's not get too excited over a gimmick, which the lights definitely are. Let's start appreciating design that stands out in the front of the phone, because the back will be covered by a case unless the design is something like the LG V10 that never asked for a case.

Phone is gonna be ultra meh, nothing more than something like galaxy A53.
But be sure sponsored youtubers will have orgasms with this phone same way they do with pixel, all this to fool you and make you believe is it better than even phones above $1000.
